This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

Just a few years ago, it was almost unheard of for developers to include mod tools with their games. As more proprietary engines got used, developers who even used to allow modding began closing of their games. For example — Battlefield, a series known for massive Star Wars and realism mods, is now remembered for threatening to ban players just for changing the color filter. So you can understand, why today’s news brings a lightness to my heart: Dying Light officially supports mods and Steam Workshop on PC.

Techland has already uploaded several tutorial mods to download and play around with using the tools, and you can watch an entire series of tutorial videos on how to get acquainted with their current toolset released to users. From the looks of the announcement trailer, you can do everything from make a simple mini-game to entire new world regions.

Even this shortly after release, a few simple mod maps and concepts have been rolled out. For more, be sure to check out the game’s Steam Workshop page.
