10 Best Sorcerer Gear Pieces in Baldur’s Gate 3 & How to Get Them

Sorcerers love gear that boosts their defenses and their blasting potential. Here's the best Sorcerer gear in Baldur's Gate 3 for your build.

Sorcerers are the arcane blasters in our party, so we need gear that boosts damage and provides additional spells. Luckily, there are plenty of offensive and defensive magic items that work well with this class. Here’s my list of the best Sorcerer gear in Baldur’s Gate 3.

What are the Best Sorcerer Gear Pieces in Baldur’s Gate 3?

I go into much more detail about each Sorcerer gear piece below and provide tips and how to get each of them. However, here’s a short list of the items I consider the best if you either already have them or want to seek them out yourself:

10. Cloak of Displacement

The Cloak of Displacement is a great piece of Sorcerer gear that gives you a free Blur spell. It’s always active, imposing Disadvantage on attack rolls against you. It can turn off if you take damage, but it comes back online at the start of your next turn. I kept it on until the final fight, where I moved it to Lae’Zel and switched to the spell-boosting Cloak of the Weave from Helsik. I bought it from Danthelon in Danthelon’s Dancing Axe.

9. Gemini Gloves

Simple and effective, the Gemini Gloves allow you to target an additional enemy with your cantrips. Furthermore, you can also target the same creature twice, which I found exceptionally powerful for Fire Bolt and other high-damage cantrips. The effect is available once per Short Rest. Buy these from Helsik at the Devil’s Fee in the Lower City.

8. Bracers of Defense

Bracers of the Defense is another superb piece of Sorcerer gear that you can get as early as the Blighted Village. The bracers boost your AC by +2 if you’re not wearing armor or shields. Our Sorcerer Mage Armor spell doesn’t count, so this is a free defensive boost for non-armored casters. Pick it up in the Necromancer’s Cellar beneath the southernmost house in the Blighted Village in Act 1.

7. Moon Devotion Robe

If you don’t have a way to get Advantage on your concentration checks by the Last Light Inn and you don’t mind going against Isobel, then this Sorcerer gear is for you. The Moon Devotion Robe grants Advantage on concentration, retaliates against saving throws with 1d4 radiant damage, and boosts your saving throws by +1. You also get a free Mage Armor spell for the day and the Produce Flame cantrip. Loot it from Isobel at Last Light or the Ramazith’s Tower.

6. Birthright

Speaking of simple and effective, the Birthright hat increases your Charisma by +2. This effectively boosts your spell save DC and spell attack rolls, along with any skills that scale with Charisma. You can buy it in the Sorcerous Sundries shop.

5. Hood of the Weave

The Hood of the Weave fills a similar role, but it boosts your DC and spell rolls by +2. This further enhances your effectiveness. The only difference between these two is that one also boosts your skills and damage with the Potent Robe while the Hood is better if you’re not a Draconic Bloodline and don’t have the Potent Robe. You can buy it from the Mystic Carrion in Philgrave’s Mansion.

4. Robe of Supreme Defences

This is one of the best Sorcere gear pieces in Baldur’s Gate 3. The robe increases all saving throws by your Charisma score while concentrating. This not only helps you resist hostile spells but also keeps concentration on your own key ones as well. You’ll also get +1 AC for wearing. Buy it from Ferg Drogher near the Requisitioned Barn in Rivington at the beginning of Act 3.

3. Nymph Cloak

As for cloaks, yes: the Cloak of the Weave is a decent option. However, I’ve been using the Nymph Cloak on my Sorcerer — and it’s incredible. It gives you a free casting of Dominate Person per long rest, which I recommend you use Twin Spell on to target two enemies. You can either get it in one of the vaults of the Counting House with a DC 30 Sleight of Hand or buy it from Ferg Drogher while Shadowheart isn’t in your party.

2. Potent Robe

This is the best Sorcerer gear in BG3 during Act 2 and beyond. The Potent Robe makes all your cantrips deal additional damage equal to your Charisma modifier. I found that it stacks with the Draconic Bloodline subclass and their Elemental Affinity Charisma damage boost. Additionally, the robe also gives you temporary HP each turn and increases your AC by +1. That said, you must rescue the Tieflings in Moonrise Towers to get it from Alfira as a quest reward in the Last Light Inn. This is also superb on our Sorlock build.

1. Markoheshkir and the Staff of Spellpower

Not much surprise here. These two staves are the best in BG3. Any caster build should get them. First off, they both allow you to cast any spell you know for free once per Long Rest. Second, the Markoheshkir grants you bonus free spells from any element you choose and boosts the damage of those elemental spells. I dual-wielded these two on my Sorcerer in the final boss fight by picking up the Dual Wilder feat allowing me to use both of their effects. Here are our Markoheshkir and the Staff of Spellpower guides so you can find them yourself.

That concludes my list of the best Sorcerer gear in Baldur’s Gate 3. As always, I highly recommend grabbing the Spellcrux Amulet from the Warden beneath Moonrise Towers for extra spell slots. For more BG3 guides, check out our best Wizard and Warlock gear as well as our list for Bards.
