While we’re currently in Phase 2 for Season of Discovery, it won’t be long until Phase 3 creeps up. As such, it’s best to prepare now so that you can dive right into the new content when it’s added. So, here are five ways to prepare for WoW SoD Phase 3!
WoW SoD: How to Prepare for Phase 3
Phase 2 let us go from Level 25 to Level 40. Since we’ve all had time to get used to how Season of Discovery works, we don’t need quite as much to prepare for Phase 3 — at least not compared to Phase 1 when we were just getting started. So, here are the top five ways to get as ready as we can be.
5. Level to 40
Naturally, you’ll want to be at max level heading into the next phase so you can get started with new content right away. When a new phase hits, it’s tough to participate in the new content if you aren’t at the previous phase’s max level. Additionally, if you have alts and plan on playing them in the final phase, you’ll want to level them to 40, too. This also opens up more role possibilities if you want to raid. Having a character that’s max level and geared for each role (DPS, Tank, and Healer) increases your odds of getting a consistent spot in raids.
4. Get the Cozy Sleeping Bag
Added in Phase 2, the Cozy Sleeping Bag is an item that you can pick up by completing a questline. Lying down in the sleeping bag offers an experience boost, which stacks up to three times. It takes a few minutes to get all three stacks, and the boost for experience isn’t huge. However, given how long it takes to level normally in Classic, any and every experience boost is highly useful. Since the level cap goes up again in Phase 3, having the Cozy Sleeping Bag ready to use can accelerate your next leveling stint.
3. Buy a Mount
One of the ways I prepared for Phase 2 was to earn gold. Gold is harder to earn in Classic compared to Retail WoW, and mounts cost more gold if you aren’t getting the summoned versions that Warlocks and Paladins have. Additionally, you need to buy riding lessons to use your mount. However, the speed boost of a mount is super useful in SoD. There aren’t as many flight paths, so moving around the map takes a lot longer. You technically don’t need a mount, but the quality of life improvement that comes with them is big enough that they basically become essential.
2. Level Professions
Professions are much more useful in Classic. In SoD, there are cases where crafted gear is considered best in slot, or at least good enough to be an acceptable replacement for the BiS piece. Not only can professions boost your gear so you can get into raids, but you also have utility professions like Alchemy and Cooking. Elixirs, Health and Mana Potions, and foods that give you stat buffs are crucial in Classic. Plus, it never hurts to help healers by supplying or selling Mana Potions and take the burden off them in dungeons by using Health Potions as needed. And if you want to get every recipe available for your professions, it takes a bit of time due to drop rates. Better to prepare now and get what you can!
1. Gear Up
When you reach the end game, gear becomes more important. And Season of Discovery is unique in that it has multiple end game points since each phase has its own end game raids. However, participating in those raids isn’t the only reason that gearing up can be so helpful. When you equip better gear, killing enemies becomes easier. In fact, the difference in how much easier it is to fight with better gear compared to low-quality gear is shocking, especially if you play a Mage like me and you suddenly stop struggling to survive every encounter. With better gear, leveling becomes much easier when the next phase drops.
And those are the five best ways to prepare for WoW SoD Phase 3. If you haven’t joined in yet, it’s not too late to start playing WoW Classic: Season of Discovery.
