Repairing the Truck in Chapter 2: Fugitives
As you progress through A Way Out‘s story, you’ll eventually come to a farmhouse. You’ll have the choice to either distract or confront the elderly couple inside. Both options have their pros and cons, but regardless of what you choose, you’ll have to repair the old, broken-down truck in the barn to move on through the story.
Once you get into the barn, a cutscene will play. After the cutscene ends, both players will need to first go upstairs (you’ll see the stairs directly across from the truck. You’ll then come to a pulley system. One player will need to hang on to the hook over the gap, and the other player will need to work the pulley system.
Once on the other side of the gap, one player will need to walk toward the pile of tires at the far end of the gangway. Interact with the tires to throw one down to the barn floor below.
While one player is taking care of the tire, the other player can walk down the stairs and get the lugwrench off the blue toolbench. Once both players are back downstairs, look for the pinchbar, which is to the right of the truck if you’re facing the barn doors.
Putting the Tire on the Truck
Now, the player with the pinch bar needs to go to the back of the truck to lift it. The other player needs to pick up the tire and place it on the back left axle of the truck. Then, you’ll need to use the lug wrench to attach the studs, which firmly secures the tire to the truck.
Finding the Battery — Which is Actually Charging It
Well, technically, you won’t be finding the battery. Instead, you’ll be charging the battery. On your first playthrough, that’s not really clear, so don’t spend your time looking. Instead, go ahead and push the truck through the main barn doors and down the hill to the small shed (you’ll need to lift the truck and remove the blocks before you can push it).
Once the truck is down at the shed, attach the jumper cables from the tractor to the truck. Next, you’ll need gas, so go into the shed and look directly to your right when you enter. You’ll find a gas canister on a generator. Take it and fill up the truck’s tank.
After you do that, start the truck! Once you do so, a cutscene will play, and you’ll enter the next part of A Way Out.
A Way Out Truck Bug
Some players have said they’ve run into a bug that won’t let them push the truck through the barn and down the hill. As of this writing, there only fix that’s been found requires you to start from your last checkpoint. If we find any other ways to get around the glitch, we’ll make sure to update this guide accordingly.
Now that you know how to repair the truck in A Way Out, you’re well on your way to staying ahead of the law in Chapter 2: Fugitives and making it to freedom in one piece.
