Whether you’re in Bright Falls or somewhere else entirely, it seems like every door is locked. There’s some tool or mechanism you’ll need to open them. And the same is true in Watery. Here’s how to get the Lighthouse key in Alan Wake 2.
Where to Find the Lighthouse Key in Alan Wake 2
You can get the Lighthouse Key in Alan Wake 2 by opening the last Cult Stash when you’re playing as Saga Anderson. Here’s a quick summary:
- There are a total of 22 Cult Stashes in the game spread across the three main zones: Cauldron Lake, Bright Falls, and Watery.
- Your first visit to the village of Watery is during Saga’s Return 3 — Local Girl chapter. You’ll notice the Lighthouse on the southern portion of the map, though the chapter’s main objective doesn’t require you to go there.
- I did visit the location at the time, though I only noticed a Cult Stash and Nursery Rhyme, puzzles which I still solved. Sadly, I wasn’t able to find the Lighthouse key at that point.
- I had to advance Saga’s arc further just so I’d have access to the remaining Cult Stash locations.
How to Open the Sheriff’s Office Cult Stash for the Lighthouse Key
In my case, the last Cult Stash that I unlocked in the campaign was the one in the basement of the Sheriff’s Station in Bright Falls. Technically, this is also the last one that becomes available based on the chronology of events.
Specifically, you’ll revisit this area during the Return 6 — Scratch chapter. When this is already underway, you’ll have solved the Valhalla Nursing Home puzzle, which then leads you to the Overlap in that zone. That’s also where you’ll acquire the Bolt Cutters.
Certain events, which I won’t spoil here, lead you to the basement of the Sheriff’s Station in Bright Falls. You can then use the Bolt Cutters to pry open the metal gate. Then, upon checking the Cult Stash, you’ll notice a drawing that has a single line, a triangle with a line, and a hexagon. The lines represent the numerical code for the container, so go ahead and input 1-4-6.
Inside, you’ll find a bunch of goodies, including the Lighthouse Key. Continue onward until you’re done with the encounter in Return 6, but try to avoid the dialogue option that causes you to go past the point of no return (the game will warn you about it, so don’t worry).
Next, return to the Lighthouse in Watery. Inside, you’ll find a couple of Manuscript Pages, as well as a diagram for a rather over-the-top device.
That’s everything you need to know about how to get the Lighthouse Key in Alan Wake 2. For other tips and tactics, like how to find inspiration in the subway or why ammo seems so scarce, click the links or visit our AW2 guides hub.
