All New Skins in Genshin Impact 4.8 & How To Get Them

There are some solid rewards in the Genshin Impact 4.8 update, with two new skins available if you've the time/money.

Oh sure, there’s plenty of completely free content in Genshin Impact, but no patch comes along without some new way to spend real money in the game. In update 4.8, there are two brand new character skins for Kirara and Nilou, and how you get them varies wildly. Let’s discuss.

Like the 3.8 update last year, a smaller event region was added for 4.8. The limited-time event lasts the entire patch period, or 41 days if you started playing on patch day. To get the new Kirara skin, you’ll need to engage with the event and the new region. Specifically, you need to collect 125 Excerpts of Bliss collectibles scattered throughout the event region of Simulkana.

Thankfully, for all the Excerpts of Bliss items in the world, I’ve found three of the items to be awarded, so rather than needing to find all 125, you only need to collect 42. Once you collect the last set of Excerpts, you can go to the Summertide Scales and Tales event screen, open the Summer Gifts screen, and select the present icon below the Phantom in Boots description near Kirara.

You can find Excerpts of Bliss by their origami crane symbol on the minimap. As with all other collectibles with minimap icons, you’ll only get a general sense of where the Excerpt is, whether it’s above or below you, and so on.

Besides the Kirara skin, you’ll also want to collect Excerpts of Bliss because, when you reach the magic 125 number, you’ll also have earned:

  • 150 Primogems.
  • 100,000 Mora.
  • 2 Blue-rarity Fragment upgrade materials each for Pyro, Hydro, Dendro, Elecro, and Anemo characters.
  • 1 Jocund Letters item that helps you detect additional Excerpts of Bliss in Simulkana.

How to Get Breeze of Sabaa Skin for Nilou in Genshin Impact

Sadly, there is only one way to get the 5-star skin Breeze of Sabaa for Nilou in Genshin Impact: pony up some real money for Genesis Crystals. The default price is the same as every other skin if you’re trying to buy it outside of the event period: 1,680 Genesis Crystals, or about $25. You will, of course, probably need to buy the $29.99 pack to get the most value for your dollar.

During the Summertide Scales and Tales event, however, Nilou’s skin is on sale! For around 1,350 Gensis Crytals (as converted from about $20 real-world dollars), you can give Genshin Impact‘s most effective Hydro applicator some stunning new threads.

Sadly, HoYoverse is no longer giving us 5-star skins for free with any degree of frequency anymore, so those waiting for one can keep waiting — probably forever. Our 4-stars can look snazzy for nothing, though, which is a (somewhat) okay tradeoff.
