Animal Crossing New Horizons Pascal Guide: How to Find Him

Wondering how to find Pascal in Animal Crossing; New Horizons? This guide shows you where he is, as well as what he gives you for scallops!
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Thanks to Animal Crossing: New Horizon‘s summer update, you can grab a wet suit, take a dip in the ocean, and dive for sea creatures, collecting them to your heart’s content. The update also introduced Pascal, a friendly, red sea otter. However, much like Redd or Gulliver, Pascal isn’t always available.

In this guide, we’ll show you how to find Pascal in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, what Pascal does, and tips for using his services. Hint: it has to do with scallops.

How to Find Pascal in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

After you’ve gotten your wet suit and learned how to swim and dive, you’ll likely find yourself on a quest to collect sea creatures under the waves.

To find Pascal, you’ll need to collect a scallop, which can be collected just like other underwater items. Scallops aren’t as common as the sea creatures and ocean items, but they are relatively easy to find.

Look for the bubbles and dive below to grab the object making the bubbels. If you do find a scallop, Pascal has a chance of spawning, and he’ll appear close to you in the water.

He won’t spawn every time you find a scallop, but he does spawn once a day. If you collect a scallop and Pascal doesn’t appear, you’ll need to keep finding them until he spawns.

Be on the lookout for a bright red otter floating on his back

The nice thing is that scallops can be found year-round, which means you’ll always be able to locate Pascal, even during the winter.

What Should You Find Pascal?

After you get Pascal to spawn, approach him, and he’ll request the scallop. Giving the scallop to him, and he will reward you with either a pearl or a Mermaid DIY recipe. It’s random whether you get a pearl or a recipe. Keep in mind that you can only trade a scallop with Pascal once per day. If you don’t give him the scallop, you’ll still be able to later on.

Pearls are used in the Mermaid recipes, so you’ll need them to get some of the game’s fancy items. They can also be sold for 10,000 Bells at Nook’s Cranny.

That covers everything you’ll need to know about finding Pascal in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, giving them scallops, and getting pearls in return! If you’re looking for more ACNH content, consider checking out our guides hub here
