ArcheAge Leveling Guide – Basic Tips To Easy Leveling

Basics to make leveling a battle class easier in ArcheAge.
This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

In this guide I’ll cover basics to help you level in ArcheAge. ArcheAge is a sandbox-style MMORPG, as such there isn’t one clear-cut way to go about leveling. For this particular guide I’ll cover leveling a battle class.

Your battle class is the basis for everything else you do in ArcheAge. Performing any tasks for crafting or gathering boosts your experience in your battle class as well. This works similar to how crafting does in Guild Wars 2, where you can technically level without even leaving the main town. The catch is, to acquire materials you need to be able to journey out into the wilds. This means you need to defend yourself from the monsters in the area where your materials are located.

Leveling your battle class based on trade skills alone is a very slow process. This is why there is questing in ArcheAge. Questing makes up the majority of experience gained for battle classes. Due to the way the quest tracker works, it’s very easy to get overwhelmed if you’ve accepted a large number of quests. Below I’ll cover easy ways to prevent this so that you won’t slow down in progression.

As you can see, this is what it looks like when you start getting a large quantity of quests from a centralized area. It get’s a bit rediculous.

Reading Quest Text

This is the most basic step, reading text helps give you bearing in the task you’re setting out to accomplish. The best way to do this is to look through your quest log by pushing L, scrolling to the quest you’re working on and reading the text there. I find the dialogue with NPCs isn’t very helpful in completing quests.

Taking Notes

Once you get the basics of what you need to do figured out, jot it down on piece of scratch paper. You don’t need anything too detailed, just enough to remind yourself what you’re doing. This is better than managing your quest tracker because you’re likely to forget quests that you remove from the tracker due to the long quest chains that you sometimes get.

Quest Tracker Indicators

Here you can see the indicators marking quest locations. Some of these are precise spots, others are generalized locations.

The quest tracker indicators give relative locations. These locations aren’t always precise, and can get frustrating if looking for a specific named monster. The best thing to do, is to look in the area surrounding the indicator, just remember if it’s a specific named monster, someone else could have just killed it.

Don’t Skip Quests

During my leveling, I’ve noticed many low reward quests that seem like good quests to skip. Sometimes these “lame” quests lead into longer quest chains that give better rewards. Don’t miss out on good experience just because a quest doesn’t seem to be worth your time.

Don’t Grind Monsters

Generally in MMOs the best way to level is killing monsters one after the other for hours. This is not the case in ArcheAge. Monster grinding not only gives miniscule amounts of experience. The best result monsters drain your mana and health fast, meaning a lot of down time between fights. Questing offers more experience at a faster rate.

That wraps up the tricks I’ve learned leveling in ArcheAge, if I discover more I’ll add them in or make a part two. I hope you find this article useful. For more guides, please refer to my ArcheAge guide directory.
