Rhyniognatha is one of the best flying mounts in Ark: Survival Ascended, being able to quickly traverse large distances, but taming one can be an issue. Our guide will provide you with tips on how to tame a Rhyniognatha, including step-by-step instructions.
How to Tame a Rhyniognatha in Ark: Survival Ascended
Step 1: Obtain a Rhyniognatha Pheromone
If you want to tame one of these creatures, you must first hunt a male Rhyniognatha in the wild who drops a Rhyniognatha Pheromone to attract a female. You can find them roaming the swamp biome, as shown on the map below.
Rhyniognatha are strong creatures, so be sure to use similarly strong mounts to defeat them, including:
- Wyverns
- Rexes
- Quetzals
- Maewings
- Trikes
Step 2: Feed the Pheromone to Rhyniognatha
Once you defeat a male Rhyniognatha, feed one Rhyniognatha Pheromone to your mount and put another one in your inventory. You’ll need the other one to feed the female Rhyniognatha once you find it in the wild. When you locate a female Rhyniognatha, don’t kill it. Follow these steps as precisely as you can:
- Damage female Rhyniognatha until its HP falls below 10%.
- Once it drops to the ground unconscious, feed it the Rhyniognatha Pheromone.
- Wait for it to restore its consciousness.
- Once it wakes up, it’ll instantly impregnate your dino, whom you gave the Pheromone to earlier.
Step 3: Keep Your Impreganted Dino Alive
Once your dino gets impregnated, the female Rhyniognatha will fly away. Note that you need to keep your dino alive during the incubation period. I noticed that this takes a couple of minutes of real time, so be sure to feed it as much as you can, or it’ll die from the incubation damage.
When the incubation period is over, your dino will give birth to the tamed Rhyniognatha baby. Then, you can interact with the baby Rhyniognatha and give it a name as you would with any tamed dino.
