Back 4 Blood is, without a doubt, at its most fun when played with friends, so it can be rather frustrating when you try to invite your friends only to be met with an error that stops you dead in your tracks. With the invite friends function not working, you’re forced to either play with random players or solo, the latter of which isn’t ideal since you don’t get Supply Point while doing so.
Players’ inability to invite friends is one of many issues on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, though Turtle Rock Studios is aware of the bug and is looking into it.
In the meantime, there are some temporary workarounds that may help you out. They work to varying effect, and while some are rather elementary, they may get you back up and running.
How to Fix the Invite Friends Error on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox
Since multiplayer is a key feature in Back 4 Blood, it likely won’t be a long wait before a solid fix for this error is rolled out with a patch. The most surefire solution for you would be to simply wait it out, but there are a few other things you can try if you’re eager to play with friends now.
The most likely fix for the invite friends not working issue is to ensure that both you and your friend have the game installed to internal system storage, not external storage. In the event that you would have to clear space to make this transfer, you can choose to save this method for last, provided the other simpler solutions don’t work for you.
Try having both you and your friend reboot the Back 4 Blood application and try again, and you should both try sending/receiving invites. Player A may have trouble joining Player B, but there’s a chance it will work fine the other way around.
If an application reboot doesn’t work, try performing a hard system reset, ensuring that all background applications that may be causing issues or conflicts are closed. If this doesn’t solve the invite friends error, then it’s time to do some internet troubleshooting.
Begin by resetting your router or modem and once again trying to invite your friend. If this fails, switch from Wi-Fi to a wired connection if it is possible for you to do so. You can also try doing an additional system hard reset after resetting your internet if you want to cover all the bases.
