Here are 10 things you should do in Baldur's Gate 3: Act 2 if you want to make significant progress.

Baldur’s Gate 3 players have to learn a lot of things in Act 1, but Act 2, although shorter, has a ton of tricky, seemingly unresolvable quests and lots of secret items that you have to get. Besides that, you can find a way to duplicate your legendary weapons and recruit an evil companion. We cover all this and more in our guide to the top 10 things you should do in Baldur’s Gate 3: Act 2.

10 Things You Should Do in Baldur’s Gate 3: Act 2

Here’s a quick breakdown of the things you should do in Act 2:

  • Find Mol in Guildhall.
  • Lift the Shadow Curse.
  • Find Zevlor in Moonrise Towers.
  • Duplicate Legendary Weapons.
  • Acquire the Blood of Lathander.
  • Acquire the Spear of Night.
  • Buy Gear From Quartermaster Talli.
  • Recruit Minthara (Evil Playthrough).
  • Buy Gear From Dammon.
  • Acquire the Rat Bat.

Find Mol in Guildhall

After the ambush at the start of Act 2, you need to head into the Last Light Inn. The “Rescue the Tieflings” quest you get from there can be really hard to complete if you don’t know where to look. Finding most of the Tieflings is a straightforward process, but Mol isn’t where she’s supposed to be. Presumably, she was seen at Moonrise Towers, but the kid’s not there, so don’t waste your time! Instead, go to Guildhall at coordinates X:-13 Y:751 as soon as you reach Baldur’s Gate. You can enter the Guildhall via the Lower City at coordinates X: 61 Y:-99, and that’s where you’ll actually find Mol and finish this pesky quest.

Lift the Shadow Curse

One of the most obscure quests in Act 2 is “Lift the Shadow Curse,” given by Halsin at the lakeshore, which is located to the north of the Last Light Inn. The quest is quite straightforward, except for a few things you absolutely must do unless you want to lose hours of progress. First, you must play hide-and-seek with Oliver, or he’ll never show up again. Second, don’t kill Oliver during the final battle with his clones. You can easily defeat the clones with the Magic Missiles spell, but don’t hurt the original. Lastly, return to camp and speak to both Halsin and Thaniel if you actually want to finish this quest.

Find Zevlor in Moonrise Towers

Another one of the Tieflings that you’ll need to find is Zevlor. But again, things aren’t as evident as they seem. What I’d suggest doing is following the quest to find Tieflings and arriving at the Moonrise Towers. Once you reach the final assault in the tower’s underground, you’ll find Zevlor inside the Mindflayer Pod. Once you free Zevlor, you’ll still see the “Talk to Zevlor” line in your quest log, but I wouldn’t worry about it, as this issue resolves automatically once you make significant progress in Act 2.

Duplicate Legendary Weapons

Did you know that you could duplicate legendary weapons in Act 2? This is possible during one of the trials at the Gauntlet of Shar called “Self-Same Trial,” where you can fight clones of yourself. As a result, you get to pick up copies of your own legendary weapons. They may have different names, but the stats stay the same. Obviously, you need to equip the weapon you wish to duplicate before entering the trials.

Acquire the Blood of Lathander

The Blood of Lathander is a powerful legendary mace that’s hidden inside the secret chamber at Crèche Y’llek in Rosymorn Monastery. When you reach the room with the statues after defeating the Inquisitor, you need to turn the left statues to the west and the right statues to the east. When turning statues, your Athletics stat will be checked, but one of the statues will have impossible numbers to pass. So force it by hitting it with any blunt weapon, and it’ll turn just like the rest. Once the statues are turned correctly, the entrance into a secret chamber with the Blood of Lathander will be revealed.

Acquire the Spear of Night

The Spear of Night is the only magic spear in the game that you can use to kill Nightsong. You can obtain this weapon during the “Find Ketheric Thorm’s Relic” quest in the Gauntlet of Shar. You need to collect three Umbral Gems that you can unlock by completing the three Sharran trials, one of which I’ve already mentioned above. Once you place the gems on the pedestal, they’ll unlock the area where you can fight Balthazar. Under no circumstances should you pull the lever when you enter the room, or it’ll block the exit and trap you in here. This is obviously not ideal if you’re not ready to fight yet. But if you do, then this will unlock a treasure room with the Spear of the Night and a couple of other weapons.

Buy Gear From Quartermaster Talli

Fortunately, there’s some gear and weapons in Act 2 that you can simply purchase from a merchant and not go out of your way to get. The Obsidian Laced Robe has a Flaming Revenge ability that deals 6-9 Fire damage on a successful saving throw to anyone who uses a magic spell against you. This passive skill is extremely useful, and I strongly recommend you purchase it from Quartermaster Talli for 880 Gold at the Last Laight Inn. I also recommend purchasing the Incandescent Staff from him, which deals Bludgeoning damage and shoots Fire Bolts. Many players consider it to be one of the best staves in the game!

Recruit Minthara (Evil Playthrough)

If you’ve chosen the Evil Route in Baldur’s Gate 3 and unlocked Minthara’s questline in Act 1, then you have the chance to recruit Minthara during Act 2 at the Moonrise Towers. Although there may be consequences for non-evil players who decide to recruit her, players who’ve chosen the Evil Route will have a blast with her. Minthara is a Strength-based Paladin companion with high Charisma, who can help you travel to the Moonrise Towers without being affected by the Shadow Curse. Once you find her in the torture room, use the Invisibility spell on her, and this way you can safely leave without anyone seeing you. Also, don’t forget to check out our guide on how to romance Minthara.

Buy Gear From Dammon

There’s another merchant at the Last Light Inn that you should check out by the name of Dammon. He sells Flawed Helldusk Armour, which is expensive at 3,200 Gold, but it has protection from Piercing damage and the Lesser Infernal Retribution passive skill. Whenever an enemy hits you within 2 meters, the armor deals 1-4 Fire damage to that enemy automatically. When it comes to weapons, I found the Sword of Life Stealing to be the best in his chest, which deals 1d6+2 Piercing damage and 1-10 Necrotic damage. You also need to talk to him if you are trying to romance Karlach.

Acquire the Rat Bat

Rat Bat is a rare two-handed greatclub that deals 1d8+1 Bludgeoning damage and has the Rat Catcher passive ability, granting you bonus attack rolls against beasts. You can get it in the Waning Moon, which is located in the southern part of Reithwin Town in the Ruined Battlefield at coordinates X:-224 Y:-83.
