Baldur’s Gate 3: How to Free Counselor Florrick

Break Counselor Florrick out of prison in Baldur's Gate 3.

If you want some help later in Larian’s epic CRPG, you’ll want to know how to free Counselor Florrick in Baldur’s Gate 3. This minor character is someone you’ll encounter at various stages of the campaign. She knows that something sinister is happening in the city, and her inquisitiveness will lead her to trouble. But if you help her, she’ll aid you in return.

How to Free Counselor Florrick in Baldur’s Gate 3

To free Counselor Florrick in Baldur’s Gate 3, you’ll need to break her out of Wyrm’s Rock Prison. However, there are actions that must be taken in the previous acts to do so.

  • Act 1: The first time you meet Counsellor Florrick is in Waukeen’s Rest, which is west of the Risen Road. The manor is burning, and you need to kick the door down to help Florrick escape. She tells you that the Cult of the Absolute has kidnapped Duke Ravengard.
  • Act 2: You’ll come across Counsellor Florrick in Last Light Inn, where she’s recuperating.
  • Act 3: You’ll hear rumors that Counselor Florrick’s meddling landed her in jail. Worse, she’s been accused of treason, and is about to be executed. While I can’t confirm if this quest is time-sensitive, I treated it like it was. That’s why I went ahead to rescue her, as opposed to undertaking other tasks or doing several long rests.

How to Reach the Wyrm’s Rock Prison in Act 3

Make your way to the crossing in Rivington. It’s just past the Sharess Caress, where you finish the Stern Librarian Ffion side quest. When you approach the drawbridge, a Flaming Fist sentry tells you that you need an invitation to pass. If you don’t have one, I suggest taking an alternate route. Here’s what I did:

  • I moved my party to the right-hand portion of the archway, which is overlooking a cliffside path.
  • I then cast the Feather Fall spell (a scroll also works). It nullifies fall damage.
  • With the spell, I was able to jump down safely with my characters.
  • There’s an opening in a wall nearby, and I had them pass through it.

How to Break Counselor Florrick Out of Prison

Now that you’re inside Wyrm’s Rock Prison, it’s time to complete the Baldur’s Gate 3 Free Counselor Florrick objective. There are three guards in one of the small rooms, and another one is patrolling. If you get spotted, you can pass a dialogue check to make them think that you’re just inspecting the facility.

Head to the back, and you’ll see Counselor Florrick in a cell. You can either defeat the guards to pick up a key, or use Thieves Tools to lockpick the cell door. If you haven’t aggroed the guards yet, they’ll immediately turn hostile once Florrick is out.

While fighting your enemies, make sure that Florrick is safe and sound. I recommend having her stay back, preferably hidden, so as not to make enemies target her. Once the hostiles have been defeated, exit the prison via the double doors. Walk back toward the Rivington side of the crossing to escort Florrick to safety.

That’s how to free Counselor Florrick in Baldur’s Gate 3. The next time you see her would be just prior to the final battle. She’ll bring heavily-armored Flaming Fist soldiers that are duty-bound to defend the city. For more tips and tactics, you can visit our BG3 guides hub.
