Some Legendary Items are harder to get than others in BG3, and that’s the case here. Not only do you need to explore one of the harder areas of Act 3, but you also need to keep an extra NPC alive while doing it. Everyone loves a good escort mission, right? Here’s how to get the Gloves of Soul Catching in Baldur’s Gate 3.
How to Get the Gloves of Soul Catching in Baldur’s Gate 3
With the Gloves of Soul Catching, unarmed attacks get an extra 1d10 Force Damage. You also have the option to regain health on an unarmed attack or gain Advantage in place of healing. With that in mind, they’re well worth getting. So, let’s jump in.
Enter the House of Hope
First, enter the House of Hope by completing Helsik’s Ritual Puzzle located on the second floor of the Devil’s Fee. All the ingredients you need are in the rooms with and around the puzzle, so you don’t have to waste your gold purchasing the reagents from Helsik. After that, head into the portal.
Get the Orphic Hammer
Then, enter the Archives and express interest in the Orphic Hammer to the Archivist. He gives you an invitation to the Boudoir where you find Harleep. While you can make a deal with Harleep, you can also just hit the button under the painting to the left of the bed and open the safe. Inside, you pick up the magical password for the hammer.
Free Hope
Return to the Archives for the hammer, and all NPCs except the Archivist turn hostile. That means you fight your way to the prison hatchway that I’ve circled on the map below. You need to rescue Hope from there before heading to the exit of the house. Naturally, Raphael hates that you took his treasure. That means you fight him before making your exit.
Try to keep Hope alive during the fight. The best way to do this is to put Raphael asleep or incapacitate him before using her Divine Intervention if you plan on using it. Otherwise, he uses Punish Divinity and kills her. After beating Raphael, Hope rewards you for freeing her with a nice pair of new gloves.
And that covers how to get the Gloves of Soul Catching in Baldur’s Gate 3. As an added bonus, you’ll pick up the Helldusk Armor from Raphael’s body at the same time, giving you a two for one Legendary deal.
