This Legendary Helmet is hidden behind a set of puzzles hidden beneath the city. However, you run into it while going through Wyll’s companion quests in Act 3. Here’s how to get the Helm of Balduran in Baldur’s Gate 3.
How to Get the Helm of Balduran in Baldur’s Gate 3
The Helm of Balduran gives you:
- Two hit points at the beginning of each turn.
- +1 to AC and Saving Throws.
- Stun immunity.
- Immunity to Critical Hits.
Go to Wyrm Rock Prison
Getting this helm means heading to the prison in Wyrm Rock Fortress first. In the prison, turn left to find the two Dragonhead Torches. Turn them off, hit them with lightning, then light them again to open a hidden passage. A cantrip like Shocking Grasp works and saves you Spell Slots.
Next, you need to solve the puzzles in the Chambers of Insight, Justice, Courage, and Strategy.
Chamber of Courage Puzzle
In the Chamber of Courage, you need to live through four rounds of combat, similar to Halsin’s quest in Act 2. More enemies spawn each round, so spells like Spirit Guardians and Cloud of Daggers that do damage each turn are great.
Chamber of Justice Puzzle
In the Chamber of Justice, use Remove Curse on the Judge. Then, take the painting The Cell and place it on the Empty Niche in the middle of the room.
Chamber of Insight Puzzle
In the Chamber of Insight, grab and read flying books to figure out which figure on the altar threatens the city’s peace (it’s Suelto).
Chamber of Strategy Puzzle
Finally, the Chamber of Strategy makes you play Lanceboard, which is chess. You have two turns to kill the Black King. Since the pieces’ locations are randomized, I can’t give you the movements to solve this puzzle. You can, however, kill the Black King with Lightning Damage.
This lets you enter the Dragon’s Sanctum. Fight Ansur here, then go to the little altar at the back of the chamber to pick up the helmet sitting on it. Also, make sure you loot Ansur for Balduran’s Giantslayer.
And that’s how to get the Helm of Balduran in Baldur’s Gate 3. Not only can you grab two Legendaries at once, you get a bit of interesting lore about the Emperor. From here, head to our BG3 guide hub for more topics like how to get Helldusk Armor or 10 things we need in a DLC.
