Depending on your choices, you might find a nice new weapon in your inventory. The options that result in this one are unavoidable as part of the main quests, but who you kill decides what rewards you receive. So, here’s how to get the Sword of Chaos in Baldur’s Gate 3.
How to Get the Sword of Chaos in Baldur’s Gate 3
The Sword of Chaos returns 1d6 Hit Points to its wielder on a successful attack.
Find the Murder Tribunal
First, meet with the Murder Tribunal. You find them through a passage hidden in Candulhallow’s Tombstones. In the far room, remove the painting on the wall and press the button behind it. This makes the bookcase move to reveal the passage to the Murder Tribunal. However, you might want to get the Bag of Hands from Dolor before heading here. Giving a hand to the guards is the easiest way to gain access.
Fight Sarevok Instead of Valeria
Here, you meet Sarevok and the other tribunal members. He asks you to kill Valeria in exchange for becoming an Unholy Assassin and receiving the Amulet of Bhaal. You need the amulet to enter Bhaal’s Temple and face Orin. However, you have the choice to kill Sarevok and the rest of the Bhaalists in the room instead.
Sarevok is Level 16, but your party should be alright if you’re Level 12. Burn him down, then clean up the rest of the cultists and remember to loot him. You’ll receive the Sword of Chaos, Sarevok’s Horned Helm, the Amulet of Bhaal, and the Abattoir Key for your efforts.
And that’s how you get the Sword of Chaos in Baldur’s Gate 3. You also save a celestial Hollyphant creature in the process, who’s needed to complete “Investigate the Murders” as they’re the lead investigator on the case.
