Viconia is a returning character from previous Baldur’s Gate games, and you’ll get to decide whether you want to kill her or keep her alive. You’ll make plenty of choices throughout all three Acts, but the consequences are usually not clear right away. So, should you kill or spare Viconia when you come across her in Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3?
Should You Kill or Spare Viconia in Baldur’s Gate 3?
Only Jaheira will disapprove of killing Viconia, but your decision will probably come from how you feel about Shadowheart as a character.
Viconia and Shadowheart have some history, and it’s not particularly good. Viconia returns as part of Shadowheart’s quests because she’s the Mother Superior of the Sharrans located in the House of Grief. Your first decision with Viconia will be whether or not you hand over Shadowheart to her.
If you agree, you lose Shadowheart. If you refuse, you’ll enter combat with Viconia. However, fighting her doesn’t mean you have to kill her.
Choice: Kill or Spare Viconia in BG3?
At the end of combat, Shadowheart wants to interrogate Viconia. If you allow this, you can keep progressing the interrogation by not selecting to kill Viconia and end it. You can walk away after it’s done, sparing her.
If you like Shadowheart, you might want to kill Viconia for ruining her life. Also, choosing to kill or spare her at the end won’t have any effect on the rest of the story. As such, you should fight her and kill her to bring full closure to Shadowheart.
If you’re wondering if you should kill or spare Viconia in Baldur’s Gate 3, you probably should end her. There’s not much reason to pardon her, and you’ll give Shadowheart closure by doing so. At the very least, you shouldn’t hand Shadowheart over to Viconia. Otherwise, visit our BG3 guide hub for more content, like how to rescue the Tieflings in Moonrise Towers or how to use Soul Coins.
