Looking for the best Lumbering Pals in Palworld? Here's where to find them.

What are the Best Pals for Lumbering in Palworld?

Optimizing your base’s automation always starts with gathering the right Pals for the job. When considering each creature’s Work Suitability skills, pay attention to the level noted on the right-hand side. While some traits like Transporting reach Level 4, Lumbering’s max is Level 3.

The higher the skill level, the more efficient Pals are at gathering wood from Logging Sites or cutting down trees within your base area. Currently in Early Access, there are only four Level 3 Lumbering Pals to catch. You can always purchase Pals from the Black Marketeer or hatch one by incubating an Egg, but catching them yourself will yield more materials, Ancient Technology Points, and XP. Here’s where to find them.

Best Lumbering Pal #4: Bushi

  • Partner Skill: Brandish Blade. When activated, attacks targeted enemy with a powerful laigiri.
  • Drops: Bone and Ingot.
  • Work Suitability: Kindling (Lv. 2), Handiwork (Lv. 1), Lumbering (Lv. 3), Transporting (Lv. 2), Gathering (Lv. 1).

Once you reach Level 21 or 22, Bushi is the best Lumbering Pal to grab for your base. And the easiest to get, considering the others listed here require you to be at least Level 30. You find Bushi as a Level 23 boss at the Sealed Realm of the Swordmaster Dungeon, located at coordinates -116, -491. Before you head in, be sure to activate the Great Eagle Statue nearby at -109, -467. With it being a Fire-type Pal, you’ll want to bring a Water-type with you, such as Pengullet, to deal the most damage.

Best Lumbering Pal in Palworld #3: Wumpo

  • Partner Skill: Guardian of the Snowy Mountain. Wumpo helps carry supplies, increasing the player’s max carrying capacity.
  • Drops: Beautiful Flower and Ice Organ .
  • Work Suitability: Handiwork (Lv. 2), Lumbering (Lv. 3), Transporting (Lv. 4), Cooling (Lv. 2).

Equip a torch and don your armor for freezing weather, because the search for this Lumbering Pal takes you north to snowy mountainsides. You’ll find Wumpo at the Pristine Snowfields, located at -343, 270 and Unthawable Lake at -100, 287. Bringing a Fire-type with you is the best counter to Wumpo’s icy attacks, but you might want to wait until your party is at least Level 40.

Best Lumbering Pal #2: Wumpo Botan

  • Partner Skill: Guardian of the Grassy Fields. Wumpo helps carry supplies, increasing the player’s max carrying capacity.
  • Drops: Beautiful Flower, Lettuce Seeds, Tomato Seeds.
  • Work Suitability: Planting (Lv. 1), Handiwork (Lv. 2), Lumbering (Lv. 3), Transporting (Lv. 4).

Wumpo Botan is the Grass-type version of the icy Wumpo, sharing similar Partner Skills and nearly identical Work Suitabilities. You can grab this Pal in two locations. The first is the Eastern Wild Island, specifically at coordinates 450, – 51, where it’s a Level 38 Alpha Pal. The second, you’ll need to fly to, as it’s located at the No. 2 Wildlife Sanctuary. The closest fast-travel statue is the Forgotten Island at -543. -28.

Best Lumbering Pal in Palworld #1: Warsect

  • Partner Skill: Hard Armor. Increases the player’s defense and applies Fire damage to the player’s attacks.
  • Drops: Honey.
  • Work Suitability: Planting (Lv. 1), Handiwork (Lv. 1), Lumbering (Lv. 3), Transporting (Lv. 3).

Warsect is a Level 30 Alpha Pal that you’ll find inside the Sealed Realm of the Stalwart Dungeon. Its nearest fast-travel points are Hypocrite Hill at 72, -247 and Gobfin’s Turf, located at -149. -207. I like hunting this one because it’s a Grass and Ground-type Pal particularly vulnerable to Fire-types, such as Pyrin, Arsox, and Icineram.

Best Early-Game Lumbering Pals

If you’re still in the beginning stages of your Palworld journey, though, not to worry. There are plenty of low-level Lumbering Pals to get in early areas. In the Windswept Hills and Marsh Island, you find plenty of Tanzees and Lifmunks. These have several Work Suitability skills besides Lumbering, such as Planting, Handiwork, Transporting, and more.

This makes them versatile starter Pals to have on your base. Arsox is also a great Lumbering Pal to have early on, as its Kindling skill will help you refine Ore into much-needed Ingots once you reach Level 10.

Best Mid-Game Lumbering Pals

As far as mid-game Lumbering Pals go, get Mossanda, Eikthyrdeer, Dinossom, and Gorirat. All four have Level 2 Lumbering skills, so they’ll work faster than Tanzee and Lifmunk. For me, Eikthyrdeer and Dinossom were the easiest to catch. Both are abundant in the Windswept Hills and Ice Wind Island. Both also function as great mounts. As such, you benefit by catching multiple to keep some at your base and another in your party.
