Best Perks to Unlock First in Tactical Breach Wizards

Here are our favorite perks to unlock first for every character in Tactical Breach Wizard.

Perks are the only way to spend the experience points you gain during the main campaign of Tactical Breach Wizards. They’re also the main improvements you’ll find through the game. Not sure how to spend those perk points? Don’t sweat it! You’ll get to reinvest those points as the game goes on. But if you’d like some help choosing, here are the best perks to unlock first in Tactical Breach Wizards.

Best Perks To Unlock First in Tactical Breach Wizards

A word of advice before we get started. As far as I can tell, the amount of experience gained in each mission is fixed. You don’t need to retry each mission until you get a “Nice” next to your defenestration score at the end of a match. That is unless you like doing that. If you do, good news! This game was made for you. If you don’t, there’s no downside (and no shame) in taking your mediocre score and moving on to the next mission.

Best Perks for Zan Vesker

Ability NamePerk NameDescription
3 Bolt BurstSupportive FireGain a free attack when an ally uses a standard attack
Time BoostTime BombApplies effect to all target in a 3×3 square
False ProphetUseful FictionProphet interacts with anything in range

Useful Fiction, as the name implies, turns False Prophet into a utility spell. It can be used to extend Zan’s reach and give him one more action, as long as that action is free, such as closing a door or using a terminal. Time Bomb and Supportive Fire (especially Supportive Fire 2) work marvellously together. One gives your friends more actions to use their main attack, and the other triggers Zan’s 3 Bold Burts after every friendly attack action.

Best Perks for Jen Kellen

Ability NamePerk NameDescription
Static BlastRefreshing JoltOnce per turn, refresh move after firing
Chain Bolt+1 TargetCan add +1 Enemies to Chain Bolt
Gale Grenade+1 UseAbility can be use one more time per encounter

Jen is all about pushing people around, enemies and allies. Refreshing Jolt gives her an extra movement action almost every turn, a rare advantage in this game. Meanwhile, the extra Gale Grenade and the +1 target on Chain Bolt let her push a lot more people on each map. +1 target on Chain Bolt goes from useful to essential once you factor in the unique perk Superchain, which doubles the attack’s targets when you have at least two Mana.

Best Perks for Dessa Banks

Ability NamePerk NameDescription
Sedative CocktailLightheaded+1 Sedated to all target
Spectral SkullDizzyingApplies Unsteady to all targets hit
Death’s Door+1 UseAbility can be use one more time per encounter

Dessa Banks is an odd one. Her Death’s Door is incredibly useful, so we definitely want two of them. Beyond that, she struggles to make herself useful on her own. Boosting her Sedative Cocktail and Special Skull with Lightheaded and Dizzying respectively makes her target easier to push around.

Best Perks for Dall Sabin

Ability NamePerk NameDescription
ChargeMomentumIf you travel at least 3 tiles, inflict +3 Knockback
ChargeRampageOnce per turn, if Charge hits a target, your action is refunded
SwapPanicIf enemies are targeting you when you swap, they attack the person you swapped with

Any turn in which Dall Sabin isn’t charging an enemy from the other side of the room is a wasted turn. That’s why we take Momentum and Rampage as soon as possible. Panic helps us bail Dall out of trouble when she inevitably gets in trouble. Keep in mind that forcing some enemies to shoot at one of their own with Swap and Panic consumes their only attack action for that turn, making them temporarily harmless.

Best Perks for Rion

Rabid Bite+2 SedativeVictim is also Sedated 2 (loses 2 HP per turn)
Impaling VineQuicksproutIf you target a teammate, your action is refunded
Brittling DartCorrosiveDestroys any Gasmask defense the target may have

Rion is another utility wizard with great debuff and mobility options. You’ll want to pick +2 Sedative for Rabid Bite, since that attack only deals one damage otherwise. Quicksprout can be extremely useful when you need to move an ally out of harm’s way, while Gripthorns is a great alternative if you want to make Rion himself more mobile. Finally, Corrosive makes Brattling Dart more versatile. With this perk, you can remove every Gasmask defense in a single hit, on top of turning heavily armored enemies defenseless.
