Best Player Home Mods in Skyrim

Make yourself at home!

There are plenty of great Skyrim mods to choose from that make for a fresh and exciting new experience. No matter how often I pick up Skyrim again, the first mods I look for are player homes. A great home has room to store all your loot and crafting stations. Here are some of the very best to try!

10 Best Player Home Mods in Skyrim

It is important to pick the right player home in Skyrim. Although there are lots of base game homes to choose from, player home mods are truly ‘built differently.’ Not only do they look better, but they have everything you could possibly need, from spaces to store all your gear to crafting tables like a forge, alchemy, and enchanting. If you’re a fan of roleplaying, they are perfect for that too. These are some of the most popular player home mods to try:

Leaf Rest

Leaf Rest by aukmat is one of the most popular player homes, not just for its convenient location in Riverwood but for its unique features. You’ll have access to crafting stations, storage containers, an interactive gardening feature, and more with custom animations. Plus, you can customize the decor and space to your liking. It’s a great home that’s easy to find for early-game or late-game players.

Sjel Blade Castle

Sjel Blade Castle by soulbladex is an expansive player home that is an entire kingdom all for you. Not only will you have all the rooms you could possibly need for storage, crafting, collectibles, and more, but you’ll also have an easy teleportation system and unique companions. It’s just southeast of Whiterun, so not too far from the starting location either.

The Scarlett

If you’re looking for a unique player home, The Scarlett mod by Ld50365 is the perfect solution. It is a buildable ship that works as a full-fledged home for you and your companions. You’ll have over 200 build options to customize it exactly as you like. Plus, you’ll have to complete unique quests to do so. Once you have your ship home, you can even use it to travel to other locations around the map much faster.

The Legacy of the Dragonborn Safehouse

The icecreamassassin’s Safehouse is part of a larger mod with a full quest line, new items, and characters. As part of the questline, you’ll obtain the Safehouse player home, which comes with everything you could possibly need, including some new original features. Place all your loot, make room for companions, and renovate as you deem fit with a greenhouse, patio, crafting tables, and hidden treasury.

Elysium Estate

Want some more land included with your player home? Elysium Estate by thejadeshadow is an excellent plot of land right outside of Whiterun with a garden space and stables. It’s lore-friendly with the base game, with a fully voiced introductory quest, automatic sorting storage, and customizable options. It’s very fitting for a resident of Skyrim.

Rayek’s End

Rayek’s End by Rayek is a player home for the more discreet characters. If a normal house near the holds doesn’t seem fitting, this might! This home is hidden within a cave, with waterfalls built into the walls and a more bleak aesthetic. You’ll still have everything you need, but it’ll feel more realistic for a thief, assassin, or vampire character.

Deus Mons – The Castle of Miraak

Similar to Sjel Blade Castle, the Deus Mons castle by amrasanarion, or Castle of Miraak, is an entire palace just for you. However, unlike Sjel, this is a bit more fitting, not too large or too small. It has that feel like a castle but with less space to get lost in. It’s lore-accurate with the Dragonborn DLC and comes with all the usual rooms as well as purchasable guards to patrol the grounds for you.

Riverside Lodge

Want a cozier option than a castle? The Riverside Lodge by Lupus78 is that perfect cozy home. This little lodge is set right along the waterfall south of Riverwood and, despite being smaller in size, will have all the room you need for storage with auto-sorting, collectible items, and crafting. Plus, you have your own garden space, sauna, and stables. You can even try out building Riverside Lodge from the ground up yourself with the Redux version.

Niflholm

Aizekku created Niflholm to be a Dwemer-styled player home set in the mountains on the northwest side of Skyrim. You’ll get the best of both worlds: ancient Dwemer ruins features and mechanics with cozy decor. It has automatic sorting, controllable lighting, lots of crafting, and even a working organ!

Maple Manor

Maple Manor by Moosmupfel is one of my all-time favorite player home options because it’s one of the most unique out of all of them. You can enjoy custom artwork hanging on the walls, lots of decor scattered around, and an expanded layout. Feel a part of nature with a full garden, balconies overlooking the waterfalls, and vines and flowers covering the surroundings. Plus, it comes with an adorable new dog companion.

These are just a few options for player homes to try out. All of them have everything you need to get settled in Skyrim, with space for companions and storage to drop off your extra gear. Plus, some of them even have more adventures to experience along the way.
