Best Warfarer Build in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Here are my best two Warfarer builds in Dragon's Dogma 2 with both a Strength and Magick option.

The Warfarer is one of the most unique ways to play DD2 since they can use any weapon, armor, or skill. I made two Warfarer builds, one focusing on Strength and the other on Magick. Here’s my best Warfarer build in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warfarer Build Guide

Once you unlock Warfarer by bringing three Newt Liqueur to Lamond, a whole world of build possibilities opens up. To put it out simply, their Rearmament skill allows you to make various powerful combinations. You can equip and switch between any number of weapons and weapon skills. So which ones are the best?

Since Rearmament takes up a weapon skill slot, I found it the most optimal to mix 2 or 3 weapons maximum. This is because you won’t be able to equip more than three other weapon skills. I highly recommend one ranged option like a Bow, Magick Bow, or Archistave and then one or two melee options. I’ll outline two builds, one focusing on Strength damage and the other on Magick damage.

Even though Warfarer cannot use the ultimate Maister-taught skills, we’ll capitalize on the strongest regular weapon skills of each vocation in both builds. Lastly, before we start, I assume you’re using the best weapon and armor set you can find in your current region for both builds.

Strength Warfarer Build in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Let’s start with the Strength build and then move on to Magick. This Warfarer Strength build combines the raw ranged attack power of Archers and the incredibly powerful parry and mobility skills from Thief and Fighter. Since it uses the basic vocation, it’s highly accessible, but you may need to finish some side quests for the right rings and enhancement styles, which I’ll mention as we go. Here’s the outline of the build:

  • Weapons: Bow and then Daggers or Sword & Shield, all enchanted in Batthali Style for max Strength.
  • Armor: Full Fighter armor enchanted in Dwarven style for Knockback Resist.
  • Ring: Ring of Proximity (From Gift of the Bow quest) and Ring of Aggression (Melve wandering merchant).
  • Skills:
    • I: Rearmament (Quickly swaps between weapons).
    • II: Erupting Shot.
    • III: Masterful Kill (Dagger) or Vengeful Slash (Sword).
    • IV: Biting Wind/Concussive Leap (Dagger) or Burst Strike (Sword).
  • Augments: Archer (Lethality), Thief (Subtlety, Verve), Warrior (Dominance), Magick Archer (Sustainment), and Warfarer (Zeal).
  • Pawn: Mage or Fighter pawn to heal or draw aggro, and you can hire the other as a side pawn.
  • Strategy: Rain down arrows on vital spots from range and when you’re cornered or want to finish off a foe swap to Daggers or Sword to dash in and parry for high damage with MK or VS.

Strength Warfarer Build allows you to capitalize on boss weak spots from range, but you can also switch to a melee parry playstyle if enemies or bosses overwhelm you in melee. If you don’t have enough explosive arrows, I also like using Tempest Shot since it can burst down enemies.

If you haven’t unlocked the Magick Archer you can use other Augments. Switch Sustainment for the defensive-oriented Mettle from Fighter or Endurance from Ranger for more stamina.

Magick Warfarer Build in Dragon’s Dogma 2

On the other hand, I also have a Magick-focused build that works off of hybrid vocations. It focuses on tricking foes with Trickster illusions and then bursting them down with Magick Archer skills. Here’s the full build:

  • Weapons: Censer and Magick Bow enchanted in Elven style for max Magick.
  • Armor: Full Fighter armor enchanted in Dwarven style for Knockback Resist.
  • Ring: Ring of Percipience and Ring of Quickening.
  • Skills:
    • I: Rearmament.
    • II: Suffocating Shroud.
    • III: Blazefang Arrow or Sagittate Avalanche.
    • IV: Boltchain Stake or Sagittate Avalanche.
  • Augments: Warfarer (Zeal), Voracity (Magick Archer), Sorcerer (Asperity, Sagacity), Mage (Exaltation), Thief (Subtlety).
  • Pawn: Since enemies will aggro to your Effigial Incense most of the time, you want slow and powerful pawns who can charge their attacks like Warriors and Sorcerers. That said, Mages are always still great for healing and buffing.
  • Strategy: Your Trickster Effigial Incense will always draw aggro with Suffocating Shroud. Mending Vapor heals your simulacrum, and Enthralling Aroma forces enemies to attack each other. Meanwhile, you and your pawns are raining down death on your foes with Magick Archer skills.

This build is all about powerful Magick Archer AOE damage while keeping the heat off of you and your pawns with Trickster skills. The Warfarer shines when they combine the strongest weapon skills of each vocation. That said, you don’t have to go overboard and mix too many vocations. These two builds showcase how a simple combination works the best since you can only have three weapon skills besides Rearmament.

That’s it for my best Warfarer build in Dragon’s Dogma 2. For more guides like this, check out our Dragon’s Dogma 2 library, where you can find all maister locations and the best hybrid vocations for each playstyle.
