Collateral kill refers to a single bullet eliminating more than one enemy at once in MW3. Although this is hard to achieve, I’ve compiled a list of some of the best ways to get collateral kills easily in CoD: Modern Warfare 3.
CoD MW3: How to Get Collateral Kills Easily
Use .50 Caliber Sniper Rifles
The best and easiest way to achieve a collateral kill in MW3 is to use powerful sniper rifles with high bullet velocity. I mean sniper rifles that can one-shot an enemy, pierce through them, and hit another one in the line. Here are my favorite .50 caliber sniper rifles in the game:
- FJX Imperium
- KATT-AMR
- KV Inhibitor
Locate Enemy Spawns
When scouting the area of the chosen map and mode, I can quickly assess the best positioning for getting collateral kills. I discovered that the best spots are the ones where enemies tend to spawn in large groups. Once you find such a spot, follow these steps:
- Camp in a fixed position with your sniper rifle ready to shoot.
- Wait for enemies to spawn or move around in packs.
- Aim and shoot at the head as soon as enemies are lined up perfectly.
- Remember the locations of these choke points and keep coming back for more Collateral kills.
Choose Ground War and Invasion Modes
I noticed that such modes as Ground War and Invasion have the highest concentration of players on a single map. This gives you lots of opportunities for collateral kills. But I suggest you follow a few simple rules to navigate through both of these modes effectively.
- Although Ground War can accommodate up to 18 players at once, this may lead to some rather chaotic experiences. That’s why I highly recommend scouting for possible sniper spots on the roofs, eliminating them, and reserving these spots for your own positioning.
- The Invasion mode spawns up to 20 AI enemies that may behave more predictably than real players. So be sure to choose this mode over the Ground War for easy mode, while the strategy stays the same in both.
- Select smaller maps with tighter spaces, such as Terminal. Here, enemies will naturally move in packs for easy Collateral kills.
What is the Best Loadout for Collateral Kills in MW3?
Out of the three sniper rifles that I mentioned above, I’d personally choose the KATT-AMR. Some players may find it a bit hard to handle with its slow reload times, but I really appreciate that it has some of the highest bullet penetration rate in the game. Here’s a loadout for KATT-AMR that I recommend using for easy collateral kills in MW3:
- Barrel: Perdition 24″ Short Barrel
- Laser: FSS OLE-V Laser
- Stock: Tactical Stock Pad
- Underbarrel: Cornerstone Bipod
- Bolt: Ephemeral Quickbolt
The last two attachments are the most important elements of this specific loadout. The Cornerstone Bipod increases the range of your shots and, thus, bullet velocity. While the Ephemeral Quickbolt enables your sniper rifle to reload faster. The rest of the attachments are here to stabilize your aim.
