Best Ways to Upgrade Weapons and Armor in Rise of the Ronin

As you make your way through Rise of the Ronin, you’ll collect multiple types of weapons and armor. Depending on which enemy you’re fighting, the gear you have will determine if you’ll win or lose. In this guide, I’ll show you the best ways to upgrade weapons and armor in Rise of the Ronin. 

Rise of the Ronin: How to Upgrade Weapons and Armor

You’ll be able to upgrade your weapons and armor as soon as you finish the tutorial level and have access to the open world. Blacksmiths can be found on the map by looking for the icon with the hammer and chisel. 

When you talk to a Blacksmith, you’re given the option to upgrade your gear. Depending on the gear, it will require different materials and resources to upgrade. These can be found while you explore the world, defeat enemies, or find treasure chests. 

However, the best way to upgrade your weapons and armor is to dismantle any extra gear you’re not using. You’ll quickly realize that you’ll have more weapons and armor than you know what to do with.

By dismantling all of the gear you don’t want, you’ll be able to upgrade all of your good gear. The best part about dismantling your extra gear, is whatever type of gear it is, it’ll give you the materials to upgrade that type. For instance, if I dismantled all of my extra Katanas, I would only get materials that would upgrade other Katanas. 

If you’ve dismantled all of your extra gear and still don’t have enough materials, the next best way is to find treasure chests or defeat enemies. Treasure chests will be filled with rare gear and materials. Enemies also have a chance of dropping gear when you defeat them.
