Each character in Nordic Ashes: Survivors of Ragnarok has weapons or relics to choose from. They all have different effects, damaging enemies differently and providing protective abilities. While they all can be powerful with the right upgrades, these are the best weapons I suggest using.
Best Weapons in Nordic Ashes: Survivor of Ragnarok
Determining what the best weapons are in Nordic Ashes comes down to what works best for each individual’s experience, what other Ancient and regular Relics they stack on top, and what level they are playing on. However, these are the weapons/Ancient Relics that I find to be the best for each character, based on my own experience:
Axeldor – Iron Hammer
Ground pound attacks that sends out a wave of energy that damages and pushes enemies |
Axeldor’s Iron Hammer is the best weapon for him because it’s capable of not only damaging enemies but also pushing them backward. This becomes most useful when you’re on harder levels where the enemies close in on you much faster. Plus, you can add on the Hammer Mastery to gain extra attack, doubling your damage output and pushing them even further.
Thyra – Shooting Daggers
Shoot between one to three daggers that target nearby enemies |
Even though Thyra’s bow can shoot out in all directions, the Shooting Daggers provide much more damage per hit. If you improve her speed and the number of projectiles she can shoot at one time, you’ll get a lot more damage than you would using the bow. Plus, stack up her poison abilities, and you’ll be set.
Hafgrim – Fjölkyngi Staff
Fires magic missiles that attack nearby and distant enemies. Attacks also perform area damage |
Hafgrim’s staff is the best of his weapons and arguably one of the best weapons in the game. Not only does its attack fire magic missiles at nearby enemies, but it can also target distant enemies and simultaneously provide area damage. It covers all the bases and can get even more powerful if you focus on improving his area damage even more.
Helga – Cards
Throw cards that rotate and hit enemies |
Hegla’s Cards are very similar to Axeldor’s Axe, primarily in that they spiral out from you and attack anything in its path. However, they are her best weapon because they will repeatedly grow in size for each card thrown. This means you’ll be able to hit a larger spot of enemies with each card you draw. Add on some more relics, and you’ll have several more cards flying at once, and nothing will be able to get close to you.
Talkor – THE Coin
The more gold you have, the stronger your attacks will be |
Talkor is the master at making you rich. However, if you’d like to use that process to get the best of both worlds: damage and gold, THE Coin is the best weapon. The more gold you have, the stronger Talkor becomes. The opportunities are endless, especially if you add in his Infinity Bag ability. You’ll just need to keep a close eye on all gold coins that drop from enemies or from gold loot spots in the world.
Amaranth – Skog
Summons plants that seek out enemies, damaging and poisoning them |
Amaranth has many great weapons to choose from, but her best has to be the poisonous Skog. Mix this little poison plant with attack speed in her Constellation, and you will be unstoppable. Tons of Skogs will spawn around you, damaging and poisoning every enemy nearby. Poison will continue damaging enemies for a short time, so all it takes is one hit from Skog, and they’re done.
Hansi – Crimson Dagger
Shoot out daggers in random directions |
Just like Thrya’s Shooting Daggers, Hansi’s Crimson Daggers are the best option for all the same reasons. It’s capable of shooting out the most projectiles simultaneously, and stacking up his cooldown stats and critical chance will make them even faster and deadlier.
Blud – Bat Summon
Summon bats that fly around you |
Blud is all about exchanging incoming damage for outputting damage, but one of his best weapons is the Bat Summon because it has the best AoE. The more AoE, the better protected you are when you venture on the map and avoid being surrounded. The Bat Summon is fast and reliable, keeping any enemies that attempt to close in on you back.
Alruna – Mandrake
Damages and scares enemies with its screeching cry every 1s |
Although Alruna’s Selenite Wand is a lot like the other character’s projectile weapons, I think the Mandrake is the better option for her. It is not only capable of damaging enemies but also scares them backward, creating space for Alruna to move about. Plus, it’s one of the fastest attacks she has, triggering every second. Stack some of her other stats on top and it’ll be fast and deadly.
How to Change Weapons in Nordic Ashes
Before each round, you can choose a starting Relic/weapon for the character you want to be. On the Choose Survivor screen, look on the right side where it says “Select starting Relic,” and then press Q and E to scroll through them.
The weapon that is lit up on the menu is the weapon that will be equipped as you start the round. You will only have up to three options per character, and they all have varying abilities.
Besides choosing the Relic at the start of the round, you can also unlock more of them via your Constellation menu by pressing TAB. As you level up, you’ll earn points to unlock the other relics and utilize them in battle. You can level more quickly by using some Green Hearts or skills that boost your XP intake.
Try out all these weapons and see if they work well for you. Combining different obelisk relics, upgrades, and stats will make each weapon more powerful and useful. It’s all about trial and error.
