Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 is primarily a co-op game, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t play it solo. Some parts will be harder than others, of course. Some, like the Operations missions, might be outright unplayable. But there are some steps you can take to make your journey a little easier. Here are the Best Weapons for Solo Players in Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2.
Best Weapons for Solo Players in Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2
Best Melee Weapon: the Power Sword
The Power Sword might be hard to master, but only when compared to the other melee weapons in the game. In reality, the only thing this weapon lacks that the others have is a heavy attack that isn’t part of a combo. As long as you can remember the Power Sword will act as a flawless substitute for both a dueling and a crowd control weapon.
Being the only human player on the team, you’ll have to engage in 1v1 and regular melee combat in equal measure. Left to themselves, your teammates will be swarmed by minions and out-dueled by the tougher enemies. Specializing in both types of melee combat is a must.
Best Secondary Weapon: Heavy Bolt Pistol
The Heavy Bolt Pistol has two advantages over its competitors, the regular Bolt Pistol and the Plasma Pistol. The Heavy Bolt Pistol carries about the same amount of ammo as the Plasma Pistol, but can be used effectively without charging. This is a weapon you’ll fall on out of necessity, so it’s best to keep things simple.
Compared to the standard Bolt Pistol, the Heavy version can more effectively finish an enemy when your main weapon runs out of bullets or when you need to reload. And while it’s true that it doesn’t hold as much ammo, the Heavy Bolt Pistol reloads in just a second. More importantly, the added damage and range allow this gun to finish off the stunned enemies that your AI companions will inevitably keep alive.
Best Primary Weapon: It Depends
The best strategy as a solo player is to be adaptable, and nowhere is this more evident than in your choice of a Primary Weapon. So, if a mission suggests you pick a certain weapon, give it a shot. If the game unlocks a new gun, it might be a sign that it will be a useful weapon in the following scenario.
That said, here are a couple of Space Marine 2 Primary Weapons that are generally a good pick for solo players.
The Stalker Bolt Rifle is a great precision weapon that is still viable at medium distance. Not quite a sniper rifle, but still able to fight long-range enemies, which AI companions tend to ignore. A major drawback of the Stalker is the low ammo count, but most levels will shower solo players with ammo, since their companions don’t seem to ever pick up ammunition packs.
The Heavy Bolt Rifle is an all-round good full auto rifle. It doesn’t do a lot of damage but comes with a lot of ammo, a large magazine, and a medium rate of fire. The important part is that it has decent accuracy and range, making it useful for medium-long distances as well as in close quarters.
