Black Desert Online‘s Thanksgiving event kicked off a few days ago and players are eager to get their hands on its exclusive food items. But some players are having trouble seeing the daily event quest at all.
The primary event quest is called Joy of Harvest, which gives you a choice between some pretty nice food and also grants you three event-only Big Black Feathers to be turned in for even more beneficial food. We’ll get into that here shortly.
So first and foremost: Where can you pick up the Joy of Harvest quest? At one of four NPCs found across the world. You can visit the following NPCs to get the quest started:
- Emma Bartali at the Bartali Farm node in Balenos
- Coco Elda at the Elda Farm node in Serendia
- Villa Owner Phoniel at the Phoniel’s Cabin node in Calpheon
- Namoki at the Bazaar Farmland node in Valencia
If you can’t see the quest
If you travel to one of those NPCs and do not see the quest, bear in mind that only characters who are level 30 or above can start the Joy of Harvest.
If you meet that requirement and still can’t see it, open your quest log and change your filter to “All” (I don’t remember the exact one) to be able to start the quest.
The quest is the same no matter where you grab it. Kill three turkeys nearby and turn it in to choose your food and get your three Big Black Feathers.
Rewards
When you turn in Joy of Harvest you are given three food items to choose from. These are:
- Sour Cranberry Juice – HP Recovery +750, MP/WP/SP Recovery +500; recovery is 45% more effective if used while you are immovable (Instant)
- Sweet Pumpkin Pie – All damage reduction +125 (10 minutes)
- Hearty Grilled Turkey – Movement, Gathering, Fishing Level +5; Skill, Life, Combat EXP +10% (60 minutes)
But that’s not all! The Big Black Feathers can be traded in to Velia’s chief, Igor Bartali for a Golden Sunset Bundle at a rate of two Big Black Feathers for one bundle.
The Golden Sunset Bundle itself is packed with amazing food, but you’ll only get one per open bundle. Here are the foods you can get out of the Golden Sunset Bundle:
- Sour Cranberry Juice – HP Recovery +750, MP/WP/SP Recovery +500; recovery is 45% more effective if used while you are immovable (Instant)
- Sweet Pumpkin Pie – All damage reduction +125 (10 minutes)
- Hearty Grilled Turkey – Movement, Gathering, Fishing Level +5; Skill, Life, Combat EXP +10% (60 minutes)
- Lethal Taxidermied Turkey – Critical Hit Level +2 (1 hour)
- Threatening Taxidermied Turkey – Attack Speed Level +2 (1 hour)
- Cunning Taxidermied Turkey – Movement Speed Level +2 (1 hour)
- Chillaxed Taxidermied Turkey – All Evasion +15 (1 hour)
- Greedy Taxidermied Turkey – Gathering Speed Level +2 (1 hour)
- Overhyped Taxidermied Turkey – Max Stamina +200 (2 hours)
There are two very important things to note here: These Taxidermied Turkeys sell for 1 million silver each at vendors, and they can be used until their durability runs out.
Each Taxidermied Turkey can either be placed in a home for 50 points as well.
Targago
Aside from the Joy of Harvest there’s also the giant turkey, Targargo, to be slaughtered in Belanos just southwest of Marino Farm. Taking down Targago is a group effort, but his drops aren’t anything to go crazy over.
Targago may drop both armor and weapon Black Stones, a Hunter’s Seal, silver, a Big Black Feather, and maybe even a Taxidermied Turkey. Grinding him is really only warranted if you really want to crack open more Golden Sunset Bundles.
Doing the Joy of Harvest everyday is an easy way to rack up some great food, but you don’t have to dive into whacking on Targargo if you don’t feel like.
Going with just Joy of Harvest you will rotate between getting one and two Golden Sunset Bundles each day, as you get three Big Black Feathers for each turn-in and Igor only requires two feathers to get the bundle.
Hopefully this short guide has helped you wrap your head around BDO‘s Thanksgiving event — and hopefully this serves as a reminder for new players to play around with their quest filters. Happy upcoming Turkey Day, and make sure you stack up on these foods before the event ends November 30th!
