Black Myth Wukong: Chapter 2 Secret Area Quest Guide

Entering the secret area of chapter 2 of Black Myth: Wukong is more involved than it might seem.

Chapter two of Black Myth: Wukong takes place in the Yellow Wind Ridge, a giant desert that seems to extend endlessly in every direction. This is one of the most monotone areas of the game, which makes it easy to lose your sense of direction. This makes finding your way to this secret area much harder than others secret locations, but don’t worry. Here’s our guide for Black Myth: Wukong’s Chapter 2 Secret Area Quest.

Chapter 2 Secret Area Quest: Finding the Boar

The first step for finding the secret area in Chapter two of Black Myth: Wukong involves finding the drunk boar, as he’s the one who will lead you to this secret location. The boar sits drunk in a large arena-like area near the Rockcrest Flat checkpoint. To find this checkpoint, start from the Squall Hideout shrine and go through the nearby wooden fence. Just rolling through it will break it down. You can reference the screenshot above to help you find the way.

Once you’re past the gate, you should soon find Rockcrest Flat. Save your progress and keep moving forward until you reach the wide area described before. Talk to the drunk boar sitting below a tree, and he’ll ask you for “two more jars from Windrest”. Getting him more drunk will hardly help, so let’s get him some sobering stones instead.

Finding Man-in-Stone and the Sobering Stone

There’s a good chance that you’ve already found Man-in-Stone. This merchant somehow got stuck in a stone, or he might be a stone that became alive. Either way, he rests in one of the ravines near Squall Hideout. The first time you meet him, he’ll ask you to rid him of his curse. To do this, you’ll have to deal with the Mother of Stone. To reach this boss, go back from the Man-in-Stone cave and take the path directly to its left. You can defer to the screenshot above if you need help.

Keep moving forward, keeping to the left side but passing the Buddha Eyes statue. You will eventually find yourself in a small open area with one path leading left and one leading right. Take the latter and follow it until you see the entrance to a large cave. Here you’ll find the Mother of Stone.

Defeating this boss will grant you what Man-in-Stone seeks, but as soon as you get back to him, he will attack you. Thankfully, defeating Man-in-Stone is a simple task. He will beg you to spare him, and in change, he’ll turn into a helpful merchant.

You can now buy the Sobering Stone from Man-in-Stone.

Delivering the Sobering Stone and Feeding the Boar

Deliver the Sobering Stone to the boar to sober him up. He’ll tell you all this drinking made him hungry, and that he heard that the Temple of Crouching Tiger has lots of tasty meat available. You’ll find him there next, but he’s still hungry. To reach the next part of this quest you’ll have to give him a Jade Lotus. This fruit is found in many lakes across Chapters one, two, and three. You most likely already have one.

Once the boar has had its fill, he’ll start talking about entering the realm of gold, but needing some gold first. This is when things get weird.

To advance to the next phase of the side quest, you first have to defeat the First Prince. This should happen naturally if you follow the main story. If you haven’t, just explore a little more around Sandgate Village and you’ll soon find him. Once defeated, he’ll drop the Arhat Gold Piece, which is what the boar was referring to.

Deliver the Arhat Gold Piece to the boar, who will have returned to his initial location in Rockcrest Flat. He will immediately attack you, feeling that you have the gold he needs. Thankfully he’s a less than formidable foe, and either way, you have a checkpoint nearby in case you need to try again.

Once defeated, he’ll open the doors to the secret area of Chapter two: the Kingdom of Sahali. Beat the Tiger Vanguard holding the doors and you’ll gain access to the wider area behind. If you explore a little, you’ll find lots of useful things here. Not only is there a checkpoint, but also a meditation spot and a few items.

Once you’re done exploring, talk to the golden rat sitting on a cliff in the middle of the area. He’ll ask for your help dealing with the giant beetle that resides in the area. You’ve already heard of this animal in the cutscene that accompanies your entry into this side area. Would you have expected it to be one of the largest enemies in the game?

Fuban the giant beetle is by far the hardest boss in this whole side quest, but remember that this is an optional activity. If you’re having problems with the fight, you can always come back later.

None of what you unlock here is a game changer, with perhaps one exception. Defeating the insect will net you a new craftable armor set, some materials, and most importantly, the Wind Tamer. When used, this Vessel will massively increase damage reduction. Unlike most damage reduction boosts in the game, the Wind Tamer feels adequately massive.
