Black Myth Wukong Chapter 4 Secret Area Quest Walkthrough Guide

The secret area of Chapter 4 of Black Myth: Wukong is surprisingly well hidden.

Chapter 4 of Black Myth: Wukong hides one of three secret areas in the game, and possibly one of the hardest to find. This location, named Purple Cloud Mountain, is unlocked by fully exploring many different parts of the Webbed Hollow. Completing this side quest unlocks the powerful Weaver’s Needle vessel. Start by reaching the Pool of Shattered Jade checkpoint. You’ll find instructions on how to reach this location and its nearby meditation spot in our Wukong meditation spots guide. Continue up the slope and you’ll soon find the first phase of the Venom Daoist boss fight. Once defeated, you’ll have to look for him in a different location. There is nothing useful in this area, so let’s continue to the next.

This next phase brings you all the way to the end of this chapter. Go to the Court of Illumination checkpoint, where you fight the final boss of this area. Instead of going into the boss arena, go back to where you came from. Take a left, go through a small wooden building, and follow the path into the cave. You’ll find the second Venom Daoist boss fight. In his dying words, he’ll tell you to “Find the needle in Purple Cloud Mountain.”

Interact with the painting on the nearby wall, and you’ll gain access to Purple Cloud Mountain. Like any other secret area, you are teleported here instead of traveling, but you can move between this location and the rest of the game thanks to the fast travel system.

Talk to the snake near the spawn point and make sure to get the Antimiasma Powder next to it. The red snake will ask you to find her husband’s keepsake and watch out for the Scorpionlord’s poison. Do make sure to bring more Antimiasma powder with you before continuing on the path, but don’t go back yet. Just a little way forward and you’ll reach the Valley of Blooms checkpoint.

If you explore around before or after confronting the Scorpionlord, you’ll find two spirits: the Snake Herbalist and the Verdant Glow. Finding the Scorpionlord and the spirits isn’t hard, as the area is rather small. You can also find the Celestial Registry Tablet curio under a small wooden building, protected by a single guard.

Once defeated, the Scorpionlord will drop some crafting materials and a special gourde, the Stained Jade Gourd, which shortens the duration of your drinking animation.

After defeating the Scorpionlord, go down the stairs, and you’ll find the Bounds of Deity’s Abode checkpoint. Continue to look around the area, and you’ll eventually find the Petalfall Hamlet checkpoint. I wish I could give you better directions, but you wouldn’t be able to follow them in a forest that is this dense.

Go through the bridge near the shrine and you’ll soon find the flute-playing yaoguai, who will ask for your help. His disciples have fallen victim to a parasitical bug, and he wants you to kill them. Continue through the village until you find the Cloudnest Peak checkpoint. Before going up the stairs, walk into the small opening near the wooden building beside. Here, you’ll find the Life-Saving Pill formula, the recipe for one of the strongest medicines in the game.

Going up the stairs from the Cloudnest Peak checkpoint will lead you to the Duskveil, the final boss of this secret area. Defeat it twice to trigger the final cutscene of the secret area.

Concluding the Chapter 4 Secret Area

After defeating the Duskveil, you’ll see the snake from before approaching the body. Now in human form, the snake-woman thanks you, allowing you to keep the Weaver’s Needle vessel. Since she asked you to find her husband’s keepsake, we can assume that Duskveil was, at some point, her husband, and the needle her memento.

Defeating this boss also grants some high-end crafting materials. To use them, you’ll have to unlock the craftable Fuban armor in Chapter 3’s secret area.
