Equipment Guide

Knights have an S aptitude for Shields and Swords.

Armor
  • You want as much Physical and Magic Defense as you can get because you need to stay alive to defend your allies.
Weapons
  • You want to use a Sword and Shield.
  • When you get the Dual Shield ability, use two shields.

Ability List

Knights have the Protect Ally Specialty.

  • Protect Ally – If an ally has 20% HP or lower and gets hit by a single-target attack, then you take the attack instead.
Level 1
  • Stomp – Physical attack that does 1.25 times the damage of a normal attack, but lowers Physical and Magic Defense by 25% for 2 turns.
Level 2
  • Two Handed – Support ability that doubles the Physical Attack of a weapon when you equip nothing in off-hand. This works for Swords, Axes, Spears, Staves, and Katanas.
Level 3
  • Physical Defense 10% Up – Support ability that raises Physical Defense by 10%.
Level 4
  • Ironclad – Raises Physical Defense to the maximum for that turn.
Level 5
  • Protect Ally – Support ability that lets you use the Knight’s Specialty on other Jobs.
Level 6
  • Shield Strike – Physical attack that uses the Shield to do normal damage to a target. It also raises Physical Defense by 25% for 2 turns. Can only be used when you equip a Shield.
Level 7
  • Shield Lore – Support ability that raises the aptitude for shields to S.
Level 8
  • Vengeance – Physical Attack that does damage based on how many allies with K.O.
    • 0 K.O. – 0.75 times normal damage.
    • 1 K.O. – 1.5 times normal damage.
    • 2 K.O. – 2 times normal damage.
    • 3 K.O. – 2.5 times normal damage.
Level 9
  • Sword Lore – Support ability that raises the aptitude for Swords to S.
Level 10
  • Full Cover – Selects an ally to defend for one turn. If that ally gets hit by a single-target attack, you take the damage instead. You only take half the damage of the protected attack.
Level 11
  • Dual Shields – Support ability that allows you equip a shield in each hand. You can’t use fight anymore, but can still use abilities.
Level 12
  • Physical Defense 30% Up – Support ability that raises Physical Defense by 30%.
Level 13
  • Chivalrous Spirit – Support ability that raises Physical Defense by 25% for 5 turns each time Protect Ally, Full Cover, or White Knight activates.
Level 14
  • Super Charge – Physical attack that does double damage. Your Physical Defense determines the damage.

Cross Job Tips

  • Pirates are great because they have Provoke, which lets you taunt enemies into attacking you. This will keep pressure off your allies.
  • Monks are very good for their HP boost support ability.
  • Templars are also good because they have an ability to take less damage in Default. Rampart also stop one physical attack to all allies.

Special Moves

Sword
  • Level 1 – Brave 10 times.
    • Hack and Slash– Attacks one enemy, lowering their Physical Defense. Raises Hit Count for all allies.
  • Level 2 – Brave 20 times.
    • Air Splitter – Attacks all enemies. Raises Physical Attack for all allies.
  • Level 3 – Brave 30 times.
    • Sonic Wave – Attacks one enemy with Wind. Raises Physical Attack for all allies.

Combat Tips

Knights are amazing tanks. They get a lot of defense and the only Job with S aptitude for Shields. Their Dual Shields ability makes them almost invincible to physical damage.

  • You can still use Shield Strike to attack when you Dual Wield Shields, so do that.
  • Use Full Cover if an ally is low on HP. This won’t help if there is magic or group damage though.
  • If you expect high physical damage coming, use Ironclad to raise your Physical Defense to the maximum.

That’s it for the Knight. Check out my Bravely Default Master Guide List for more tips and guides.
