Can You Defeat Chaste in Wild Bastards?

Chaste is the dangerous ruler of the galaxy who put most of the Wild Bastard Outlaws into the ground. He’s also the dangerous big bad who chases you down the entire game alongside his three children as you attempt to flee him for New Homestead. Running away from this corrupt and villainous character for the entire game will make you want to put him into the ground as soon as possible. So you might be interested in knowing if there’s any point where you can defeat Chaste in Wild Bastards.

Can Chaste be Defeated in Wild Bastards?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to defeat Chaste himself at any point in the main story campaign in Wild Bastards. The same holds true for the Procedural Campaign mode and Challenge Mode you unlock after completing the main story. In fact, there is no final boss fight or anything of the sort against Chaste at any point in the game. The main boss fights for the game remain the same from the first chapter until the last.

You can face off against Chaste’s children, the three Princes, during the main story. They usually drop down in the order of McNeil, Franciso, and then Barrabas. Each Prince has their own boss fight with some mechanics unique to just them. Once Chaste arrives, you have no choice but to flee the planet. This is because running into Chaste will count as an instant loss no matter which character you use and they will immediately become injured.

We learn a bit about Chaste’s story and how he turned the populations of all the planets here into Cramm monsters to fuel his empire. We also learn that he has a hatred for mutants and robots but apparently has fathered three mutant Bastards himself. However, despite this and despite raiding his various estates, we don’t get to face off against him in a final showdown or at any point to exact revenge for the demise of most of the gang. Even then, we barely get to see much of Chaste throughout the story and the focus is more on the gameplay side of things.

This is fairly disappointing, but maybe Blue Manchu games will provide some additional content in which we can finally face off against Chaste and beat him once and for all.
