If you’re a Crash Bandicoot veteran, you know that finding colored gems is the key to gaining missing crates, missing hidden gems, and total 100% completion. The same can be said with Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, which features four colored gems for players to track down.

Once a colored gem has been unlocked in Crash 4, new paths will be unlocked in previous levels. With them in hand, special platforms will appear in the levels, which more often than not take you to challenging gauntlets full of extra rewards.

Crash Bandicoot 4 Colored Gem Locations

Red Gem

The red gem is in the game’s second level: N. Sanity Peak. It’s also in one of the more obtuse hidden locations in Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time.

Progress about halfway through the level until you reach the second door that is opened by a spiritual rat. It’s the room where you gain the first Quantum Mask.

Once in that room, look to the right of the checkpoint box to find a marking on the wall. On closer inspection, you will notice it’s a map.

Memorize the pattern and head into the next room. There you will find multiple platforms phasing in and out of existence.

Now, using the map from the previous room, mimic the pattern on the platforms that are phasing in and out. Once you’ve hit the final platform, the red gem will appear.

Be sure to pick it up before progressing, as a cutscene commences and takes you to the next segment of the level.

Green Gem

In Crash Bandicoot 4‘s second world, you will come across a level called Hit The Road. Progress toward the end of the level, when you’re in a metal ball escaping a deadly vehicle.

During this section of the level, you’ll reach a checkpoint where you exit the metal ball. Spin into the bins on the left side and a controller will fly out. Spin on the controller multiple times to keep moving a toy car.

Once the toy car has moved enough, it will hit a nitro crate and explode, revealing the green gem for your collection.

Blue Gem

The blue gem is located in the game’s fourth world, in the level Draggin’ On. It’s the hardest gem to obtain.

To reach it, you need to complete the entire level without smashing a crate. While it may sound easy, it’s quite tricky, especially when multiple segments involve using the dark power mask, which causes you to spin uncontrollably.

Take your time and avoid using the power when possible. Another tip is to jump on the “?” platform when you see it. This will take you to the bonus stage, but will also create a checkpoint for you in case you mess up.

If you get to the end without smashing a single crate, the blue gem will spawn right before the level’s end.

Yellow Gem

The yellow gem is in It’s About Time‘s fifth world, in the level Run It Bayou

Early on in the level, you will come to a water section with moving platforms. Jump on the moving platform to the right, and you will see another place to jump to on the left with four crates.

Jump there, and use the crates to double jump behind the sign that is hanging off the wall. Do so, and you will get the yellow gem!

And there you have it. That’s how you obtain all four colored gems in Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. Be sure to keep checking GameSkinny for more on Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, including our full review.
