Learn about the different perks and traits acquired by your recruits in Crime Boss: Rockay City.

Crime Boss: Rockay City will have you taking down rival gangs, all while earning a bunch of cash. Naturally, you’ll need to have trustworthy people that can tag along during missions. Even if you don’t have buddies to play with, you’ve got AI pals that can aid you. Here’s our Crime Boss: Rockay City team recruits perks guide to help you with various traits that your companions can have.

Crime Boss: Rockay City Team Perks

The Crime Boss: Rockay City team recruits function can be accessed by the Team panel. As you progress, you’ll be able to hire more companions. These NPCs are different from no-name soldiers that you get in Turf Wars in that they have perks, loadouts, and potential upgrades.

Each day, you’re given a couple of options to choose from. If you don’t like the selection pool, you can refresh it by spending a bit of cash. Just remember that the cost goes up the more you do this.

Your Crime Boss: Rockay City team recruits can be brought along in missions. By default, the main character, Travis Baker, can join two missions each day. NPC recruits can only join one. As such, trying to do multiple missions requires having more teammates that can still “act” during that day.

It should also be mentioned that AI teammates have limited functionality: they can be assigned to wait or to follow you around, and they’d shoot hostiles if you get detected. You can also switch perspectives to control someone else. Lastly, they take a cut from the total mission earnings.

  • Volunteer: Negligible recruitment cost.

  • Fast: Increased movement speed.
  • Steady Hands: Decreased weapon sway.
  • Durable: Reduced impact of explosives and fire effects.
  • Medic: Revives others faster; receives less damage while reviving.
  • Slow Learner: Requires more effort to level up, but the promotion is cheaper.
  • Mercenary: Increased mission cut; takes less damage.

Negative traits:

  • Slow: Reduced movement speed.
  • Expensive habits: Higher mission cut.
  • Dubious: Reduced mission cut; starts with additional negative perks.
  • Confused: Increased mission planning cost.
  • Stupid: Costs more to promote/level up.
  • Softie: Slightly reduced damage.
  • Marshmallow: Reduced damage.

Last but not least, some unique NPCs may appear in your recruitment pool from time to time. You’ll know they’re unique since the character models are different and they have their own bio. However, they tend to be a lot more expensive than your average NPC companion. You get what you pay for, though.
