Cyberpunk 2077 I Fought the Law: What’s the Best Choice? Answered

Here's the best choice in the I Fought the Law quest in Cyberpunk 2077.

The sidequests in Cyberpunk 2077 have always been a massive strength of the game. And while the Phantom Liberty DLC adds plenty of new gigs to experience, the strength of the 2.0 update also means it’s worth jumping back into the base game, too, completing CD Projekt Red’s vision. Whether you’re new or returning, here’s the best choice in I Fought the Law in Cyberpunk 2077.

What’s the Best Choice in I Fought the Law in Cyberpunk 2077? Answered

I Fought the Law is a huge side quest that involves tons of choices, several of which will impact how things will play out. Ultimately, however, all roads lead to the same choices at the end of the quest. The gig revolves around a murder a cop named River Ward is trying to solve. And there’s plenty of combat to be had, so be sure to stock up on health items and ammo. Bring your best guns, too.

Should You Kill the Animal Boss?

At the end of the first major encounter with the animals, you’ll have a choice on whether to kill the Animal boss or not. This isn’t a hugely important decision. But there are benefits if you pick correctly. You can interrogate or kill the boss.

  • If you interrogate him, you get valuable information.
  • If you kill him, you get a legendary weapon.
    • Easy choice here: take the weapon. The information you get doesn’t change the following events all that much.

River Ward Choices

The next choice happens when you ask River Ward what he’s going to do. He’ll tell you that Holt murdered Rhyne and used the police to cover up the evidence. You’ll get three choices here, but none affect the outcome much.

This quest isn’t necessarily about the rewards or good and evil, but rather what you feel fits for this messed up type of city. Does every murder need a resolution? How many have you killed that will leave families without answers? These are just some things to consider when making choices in this quest.

Should You Tell Peralez the Truth?

With River running full speed ahead to the Internal Affairs department, you won’t have to make any choices for a bit. The next choice is whether you tell Peralez the truth or decide to keep it to yourself. Your choices here are:

  • It was an accident. NCPD covered it up.
  • Holt’s behind it.
  • Rhyne was murdered by BD.

Each choice has a different outcome. Saying the NCPD covered it up will cause Peralez to relax. Saying Holt did it will confirm Peralez’s suspicions about him and leave Peralez with at least some form of closure. Choosing Rhyne was murdered by a Brain Dance will cause Jefferson to ask you who did it.

Should You Tell the Truth About the Murder?

Now comes the crucial choice, and that’s whether or not you want them to know the truth about the murder. Your choices are:

  • Holt
  • No Idea
  • Police

Choosing Holt won’t be a shock and is a rather unsatisfying choice to end the mission. Saying no idea is a little bit more fun, as it causes Elizabeth to ask her husband to stay careful. It’s a bit cruel for sure, but depending on your morality choices at this point, you could leave them uneasy.

The best choice here is to say Police, and that they reopened the case to put their minds at ease that the killer will be brought to light eventually. This finally ends this twisting and turning side quest.

That answers “What’s the best choice in I Fought the Law?” in Cyberpunk 2077. This is just one of many long and interesting quests in the game. Hopefully, this guide helped you choose the best outcome for each of the various choices you’ll face during it. For more tips and tricks on Cyberpunk 2077, check out our guides section.
