The Man Who Killed Jason Foreman gig in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is a bit of a doozy. First, you’ll have to investigate a crime scene and crack a code. Then, you’ll battle thugs just to reach the murderer. Once you spot your quarry, you also need to make a decision that can yield a powerful armament. Our guide discusses how to complete The Man Who Killed Jason Foreman, as well as how to get the Dezerter iconic weapon later on.
How to Complete The Man Who Killed Jason Foreman in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty
You can complete The Man Who Killed Jason Foreman in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty by dealing with Rinder and claiming his dogtag. Here’s a quick summary:
- This gig becomes available a bit later in the expansion’s campaign. As you progress further in the main quests, you should see the icon appear on your map.
- You’ll have a chat with Briana, who wants to put an end to the person who murdered Jason Foreman.
- Eventually, you’ll reach a rundown motel with several thugs warped in the throes of Braindance. You also need to decide what you’ll do with Rinder.
Meeting Briana: Investigating the Crime Scene and Cracking the Shard
Head to the slums between Longshore Stacks and Terra Cognita. Mr. Hands should call you and mention something about the client, Briana. You’ll have to skip time so that it’s between 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., as that’s when Briana’s around.
Talk to her and she’ll hand over a data shard. To decrypt it, simply complete the hacking minigame (i.e. input the sequence in the correct order). There’s also an optional task where you’ll be able to scan the crime scene. I suggest taking a look at the car, bullet holes, stash, and shell casings.
Where to Find Rinder
Next up, you have to go to an abandoned motel in Pacifica, which is outside the district of Dogtown. There are several goons on the first and second floors. I was able to eliminate most of them stealthily by using quickhacks on the appliances, thereby creating distractions.
Once you reach the top floor, however, you’ll see several people incapacitated by Braindance. But when you approach the last room in the hallway, a boss named Yasha Ivanov will emerge. I advise you to stay further away from Yasha. He throws down poison gas grenades that will constantly deal damage if you’re within its radius. Ideally, you should take him out by using long-range weapons. Once he’s been eliminated, enter the room and talk to Rinder.

How to Get the Dezerter Iconic Weapon
Rinder admits that he’s been doing Kurt Hansen’s bidding, including the murder of Jason Foreman. You’re then presented with a couple of options: kill him or put a gun to his head.
I suggest putting a gun to his head. This will cause Rinder to fear for his life, and he’ll divulge info about his secret stash (more on this in a while). In any case, take Rinder’s dogtag and bring it to Briana, who won’t know that you spared him.
As for Rinder’s stash, this leads to a short quest called Addicted to Chaos. He’ll send you a text message with a code (the one I got was 1975). Head to the marked location and input the code in the keypad. Inside, you’ll find the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Dezerter iconic weapon. This power double-barrel shotgun causes you to feel the flames—you take a bit of damage, but you also gain a movement speed boost and increased mitigation.
That’s it: that’s everything you need to know about how to complete The Man Who Killed Jason Foreman in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. Don’t forget to do all the gigs for Mr. Hands to obtain the Sport R-7 Sterling vehicle. For other tips and strategies, you can check out our PL guides hub.
