Destiny 2: How to Farm Dawning Ingredients Quickly

Looking to farm as many Dawning ingredients as possible in Destiny 2? We've got you covered.

The Dawning 2022 event in Destiny 2 has a lot of ingredients that you’ll use to make the dozens of holiday treat recipes, which you’ll then gift to your NPC allies across the system. The trouble is, until you unlock the Bountiful Harvest upgrade at Eva Levante, the event vendor, getting enough ingredients can be a bit tedious.

Thankfully, there are plenty of free and easy ways to farm every ingredient type in the game, and while some are simpler than others, none take much additional grinding, specific builds, or endgame gear. We’re covering all the best farming spots in this guide.

Best Ways to Farm Dawning Ingredients Quickly in Destiny 2

While there are many paid activities in Destiny 2 that provide an easy means of farming Dawning ingredients, there are an even greater number of free ways as well. Some are part of a seasonal destination; others are here to stay.

The list of best Dawning ingredient farm spots presented here goes from most to least convenient, with quality measured by the ease of the activity, how farmable it is, and its length.

Best Overall Dawning Ingredient Farm in Destiny 2: Altars of Sorrow

The Altars of Sorrow, the world activity in Sorrow’s Harbor in the northern section of the Moon destination, has by far the fastest, easiest, and most consistent ingredient farm in the game right now. Ann endless number of weak Hive enemies spawn as long as you can keep the timer active, and most of them will die in one or two hits from almost any weapon available, even if you’ve just started playing.

Any build or weapon combination is viable here, and you’re limited only by what kind of ingredient you need. For maximum efficiency, bring something that can clear waves of adds simultaneously.

A Trinity Ghoul bow with an active Catalyst is the best choice, as there are no ammo limitations. Still, any weapon or ability that can consistently level scores of trash mobs at once is perfectly fine. You don’t even need to complete the activity objective of killing yellow-bar Nightmares, as you can make back far more than the ten seconds you lose should they reach their destination.

Best Dawning Ingredient Farm for All Enemy Types: Dares of Eternity

Dares of Eternity is about as interesting an activity as Altars of Sorrow (which is to say, not very), but its main advantage is it gives easy access to almost all of the enemy races, from Taken to Fallen, Cabal, Vex, and Hive. The only one you’re missing here is Scorn, and they’re easily farmed in the Castellum activity on the Leviathan (also accessed via the Moon Director screen).

Your farming method here is very similar to the one used in Altars, with one notable exception. Bringing Trinity Ghoul will benefit you, but if you need other elemental ingredients like Impossible Heat or Null Flavor, that Exotic won’t give them to you. If you get the Starhorse’s Favor buff during Dares, however, you’ll have infinite Power Ammo, so you can bring any Power Weapon of any element to the party.

Best Dawning Ingredient Farm for Each Enemy Race

While the above two farming spots are good for most ingredients, they aren’t specific to the enemy races, meaning you’ll need to look elsewhere for a ready supply of the likes of Taken Butter, Ether Cane, etc. Here are our free recommendations for farming each enemy race in 2022.

  • Fallen: The Trostland section of the EDZ patrol zone and its Lost Sectors, plus the Devil’s Lair and Fallen S.A.B.E.R. Strike, available from the Cosmodrome Director screen.
  • Hive: The Altars of Sorrow activity on the Moon.
  • Vex: The Orrery Lost Sector on Nessus, the latter parts of the Inverted Spire Strike on Nessus, Dares of Eternity
  • Cabal: The Castellum and its Nightmare Containment Activity, the Proving Grounds and Insight Terminus Strikes on Nessus, the various Battlegrounds activities in the Vanguard Ops playlist
  • Taken: The Lake of Shadows Strike in the EDZ, Dares of Eternity, Gambit, the Prophecy Dungeon available in the Legends Director screen
  • Scorn: The Nightmare Containment activity in the Castellum, available via the Moon Director screen, the Throne World Destination,n and activities

Those are the best ways and places to farm Dawning ingredients during Destiny 2’s 2022 Dawning event. There’s nothing special or new about the process, just a newer way of engaging with the activities we already have in the game.
