Destiny 2 Solstice of Heroes 2023: How to farm Silver Leaves, Silver Ash, and Kindling

Silver Leaves, Silver Ash, and Kindling are all a key part of Solstice of Heroes 2023 in Destiny 2. Here's how to get them.

Solstice of Heroes 2023 is upon us once again, and you’ll want to know how to farm Silver Leaves, Silver Ash, and Kindling in Destiny 2. While there are some changes to the formula — new activities and some alterations to Bonfire Bash, to name two — the overall progression remains the same. You’ll need to collect items and turn them into other items to upgrade your Sunlit Armor.

Here’s how to farm Silver Leaves, Silver Ash, and Kindling in Destiny 2 Solstice of Heroes 2023:

  • Silver Leaves: Farm core playlist activities (Crucible is the best).
  • Silver Ash: Complete Bonfire Bash wearing five pieces of Sunlit Armor.
  • Kindling: Complete Solstice Event Challenges.

That’s the short version. In this guide, I’ll cover the best ways to farm all of these currencies to get the most out of your Solstice celebration. It’s one of the more rewarding events that doesn’t take a ton of work to finish and is relatively chill on top of it all.

How to Farm Silver Leaves

The overall progression for Solstice of Heroes 2023 goes like this:

  • Collect Silver Leaves (inventory max of 50).
  • Complete a Bonfire Bash activity to turn them into Silver Ash.
  • Use Silver Ash to Kindle Sunlit Armor.
  • Complete Event Challenges to get Kindling and improve your Sunlit Armor further.

Farming Silver Leaves is paramount, and you can do it almost everywhere in the system. Strikes, Gambit, Crucible, Public Events, Raids, Dungeons, seasonal activities — they all count. The only activity I found that didn’t reward Silver Leaves was Patrols. The main difference between the activities was in how many Leaves you get based on the activity itself.

In my testing (and to my immediate dismay), I got the most Silver Leaves most consistently from core playlist activities: Vanguard Ops, Gambit, and Crucible. Regardless of the difficulty or time spent in the activity, I received five Leaves per completion. Public events, Salvage, Terminal Overload on Neptune, and others all gave three or four.

If you want to be the most efficient when it comes to farming Silver Leaves, play whichever core ritual activity you enjoy most. Crucible remains the fastest, as you earn Leaves regardless of how long the match takes.

How to Farm Silver Ash

Farming Silver Ash is a little more complicated than farming Silver Leaves. You only need to wear a single piece of Sunlit Armor to get the full bounty of Leaves, but you earn one unit of Ash per piece of Sunlit Armor equipped on completion of the Bonfire Bash. Wearing all five pieces will therefore provide five Ash per Silver Leaf burned.

Bear in mind that you must fully stoke the Bonfire to get the maximum Ash rewards, but if you go into the activity with only a single piece of the Sunlit Set equipped, you’ll only get one unit of Ash per Leaf burned. You’ll only spend a maximum of 20 Silver Leaves per activity completion, though you can go in with fewer if you choose.

The most tedious process is when you farm Kindling, as it’s only available for completing Solstice Event Challenges, and you only get one or two units of it, depending on the Challenge. If you want to fully upgrade all five pieces of your Sunlit Armor, you’ll need to complete every Event Challenge during Solstice 2023. That requires you to engage in a little PvP, whether in Gambit or Crucible.

The challenges aren’t particularly grueling this time, as they’re mostly just playing various activities in the game, though some of them you might have forgotten even existed. Altars of Sorrow, Blind Well, Dares of Eternity, and the like are all possible requirements, though there’s usually an alternate activity on the challenge if one of them doesn’t sound fun.

And that’s how to farm Silver Ash, Silver Leaves, and Kindling in Destiny 2‘s Solstice of Heroes 2023. For more on D2‘s various reward sources, check out our guide to farming Artifice Armor, how to farm Exotics in 2023, and more in our guides hub.
