Disney Dreamlight Valley: How to Upgrade Your House

Upgrading your house is just one of the many things you can do in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Here's what you need to know.

While there’s plenty of fun to be had while exploring Disney Dreamlight Valley, your house functions as your base of operations, a place where you can rest and cook food. It’s also a place you decorate and design as you see fit, creating your own little magic kingdom. With that in mind, you’ll want to upgrade your house.

At the start of the game, your house will be quite tiny, but as you might expect, you can expand and make it even better as the game goes on. However, there’s a bit of a catch. Here’s everything you need to know about upgrading your house in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Upgrading to the House of Your Dreams

Before you can even think about upgrading your house, you’ll need to complete a few quests for Scrooge McDuck:

  • Making Cents of Things.
  • Scrooge McDuck’s Grand Re-Opening.
  • Dreamlight Valley Economy 101.

All three quests are fairly straightforward, although the last will take you the longest to complete because you must sell eight gems at Goofy’s Stall. Gems can be gathered from any of the black rocks found in the various biomes of Dreamlight Valley, and mining these rocks can yield gems even if you don’t see them at first. Aside from being needed for this quest, gems are a great way to earn money quickly

Interior House Upgrades

After completing Dreamlight Economy 101, Scrooge will add an elevator to your house. If you head there, you’ll see options for increasing the size of your main room, with the first upgrade coming in at the low, low price of free. The next two house upgrades cost 1,000 Star Coins and 2,000 Star Coins respectively.

Heading back to the elevator will show that you can purchase additional upgrades to add more rooms to your house, and the bigger the room, the more Star Coins it costs.

Exterior House Upgrades

Once you’ve upgraded the main room, head out of your house to see a Scrooge construction sign next to the building; interacting with the sign will let you construct exterior improvements, which start to cost a pretty penny. The first upgrade costs 2,000 Star Coins and adds more storage, the second costs 20,000 Star Coins and adds another floor on top of more storage, and the third costs a whopping 75,000 Star Coins and adds a third floor. Here are all the upgrade options summed up:

  • Inside 6×6 Room  1,000 Star Coins.
  • Inside 8×8 Room  2,000 Star Coins.
  • Inside 10×10 Room  3,000 Star Coins.
  • Exterior First Upgrade  2,000 Star Coins.
  • Exterior Second Upgrade  20,000 Star Coins.
  • Exterior Third Upgrade  75,000 Star Coins.
