Does Baldur’s Gate 3 have crossplay? After years in Early Access, the grand RPG from Larian set in the Forgotten Realms is finally arriving on PC on August 3 and PS5 on August 31. Featuring co-op multiplayer, you might be wondering if you can play with your friends on another platform.
Does Baldur’s Gate 3 Have Crossplay? Answered
No, Baldur’s Gate 3 doesn’t have crossplay of any kind. Larian has confirmed that the functionality doesn’t currently exist between platforms. If you play on PC, you’re limited to playing with others on PC and Mac. If you’re playing on PS5, you’ll be playing with others on PS5.
Will Baldur’s Gate 3 Ever Have Crossplay?
So will Baldur’s Gate 3 ever have crossplay? Right now, it’s hard to say. Larian hasn’t completely squashed the idea, and we never like to never, but there isn’t any current information saying one way or the other.
It’s expensive to purchase every console and have a gaming PC that’s capable of running every new game. I favor my PC for gaming, but I have friends who prefer console gaming. Because of that, I understand the desire for Baldur’s Gate 3 crossplay support — especially considering there’s co-op multiplayer baked in — and any multiplayer game, really.
Although it’s disappointing that there won’t be crossplay support for BG3, the game will feature cross-progression, letting you jump between PC and PS5, should you have the game on both platforms. Larian Studios has loaded Baldur’s Gate 3 with more than enough content to make it a worthwhile game, even if you play it solo, and at least you can platform-hop if you have the capability.
And that answers the question of whether Baldur’s Gate 3 has crossplay. For more, consider heading over to our Baldur’s Gate 3 guides hub and exploring more about the Forgotten Realms.
