Dragon’s Dogma 2: Stolen Throne Quest Guide

Here's how to complete the Stolen Throne quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2 by skipping the masquerade ball.

The quest is a crucial step before you can start romancing Wilhelmina in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Here, I’ll provide you with a step-by-step guide on how to complete “The Stolen Throne” quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2, with the option of skipping the masquerade ball.

How to Complete Stolen Throne in Dragon’s Dogma 2

There are two ways you can complete “The Stolen Throne” quest: Either by going through with the masquerade ball or by completely skipping it and doing “An Unsettling Encounter” quest instead. If you’ve chosen the first variant, then I highly recommend following our guide on how to complete the masquerade in Dragon’s Dogma 2. If you want to skip the masquerade completely, then follow the steps I listed below.

Step 1: Complete An Unsettling Encounter

To start “An Unsettling Encounter” quest, you need to travel to the Stardrop Inn at night in Venrworth, which I marked on the map below. Then, do the following:

  1. Speak to Captain Brant, who appears inside the Stardrop Inn only at night.
  2. He’ll give you two options: One for the masquerade and one for “An Unsettling Encounter” quest.
  3. Choose to do the quest and skip the masquerade.
  4. Go to Vernworth Castle and allow Sonia to escort you inside.
  5. Go up to the second floor and enter Allard’s Chambers.
  6. Look out for a hollow spot on the eastern wall and press it.
  7. Enter the hidden room and pick up the Battahli-Crested Letter on the desk.
  8. At this point, you’ll be caught in the middle of the act by Sven.
  9. Escape the castle by jumping through the castle window.

Step 2: Speak to Captain Brant

After you’ve left the castle, go immediately back to the Stardrop Inn and report your findings to Captain Brant. After a short dialogue with him, the quest will be completed, so you can continue with “The Stolen Throne” quest. Here are the rewards that you’ll get at this point:

  • 1,200 XP
  • 5,500 Gold
  • Ring of Accrual (increases the maximum amount of weight you can carry).

Step 3: Speak to Wilhelmina

If you’d choose to go through the masquerade, spying on Sovran, then you’d end up jumping through the window of the castle and being met by Wilhelmina right outside. But since we’ve skipped the entire masquerade, you’ll need to find and speak to Wilhelmina on your own after encountering Captain Brant at the Stardrop Inn. I spotted Wilhelmina at the Rose Chateau Bordelrie in the western part of Vernworth, which I marked on the map below.

After hearing about your findings, she’ll ask you to spy on several individuals, which will allow you to continue romancing her. Once you do that, report back again to Captain Brant at the Stardrop Inn to complete “The Stolen Throne” quest for the following rewards:

  • 900 XP
  • 6,500 G
  • 1 Wakestone Shard

That’s all I wanted to tell you on how to complete “The Stolen Throne” quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Stay tuned for more DD2 tips and tricks articles, including a fast travel guide about all Oxcart and Portcrystal locations.
