Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 is almost upon us, and the feature that has many fans excited is the new class system that’ll be present in both the game’s co-op and multiplayer modes. There’s a lot of information out already, so let’s analyze every class in Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2 and look at what they can do.
Every Class in Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2: An Overview
Tactical Marine
The Tactical Marine is the most common type of battle brother in the 42nd millennium. Armed with a wide array of weapons, the Tactical Marine excels in any situation you put him in, be it a frontal assault on an enemy position or laying an ambush for unsuspecting foes.
Tactical Marines are an all-round type of class, capable of performing any action that is required of them. Their special ability is the Auspex Scan, which can reveal stealth enemies as well as mark them so that they receive increased damage from all sources.
Assault Marine
Assault Marines are lightly armed but highly lethal. They fly into combat with jump packs and nothing but pure contempt for their foes. These battle brothers prefer the use of one-handed pistols and melee weapons above all else.
Their speciality is hit-and-run tactics. When playing as an Assault Marine, your goal should be to take out the enemy stragglers. Focus on whittling down the enemy and taking out his long-range support, as prolonged engagements are the bane of Assault Marines.
Heavy Marine
Heavy Marines, also known as Devastators, are the dedicated fire support units of the Adeptus Astartes. These marines carry heavy variants of the standard issue weaponry and can deal an ungodly amount of damage when used right.
As a Heavy Marine, your task is to provide fire support for your allies. Your Iron Halo device will protect you against some damage, but not all. Focus on taking down slower enemy combatants while avoiding their snipers and assault units.
Bulwark Marine
Bulwarks are the heavy assault units of the Adeptus Astartes. These marines prefer the use of power swords and storm shields over everything else. Bulwarks are some of the most fearsome melee combatants, especially in close quarters.
However, their slow maneuverability makes them prime targets for flanking attacks. When playing a Bulwark, try to force your enemies into close-quarters engagements and chokepoints. Avoid open-space engagements at all costs.
Sniper
Even the Neophytes aren’t spared the grim darkness of the 42nd millennium. Scout Marines are also present in Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2, though only in the form of the Sniper class.
These warriors are lightly armed and specialize strictly in long-range assassinations. They also carry a camo cloak that they can activate to disengage from unfavorable engagements.
Vanguard
The Vanguard are the elite among the elite. These marines are veterans of a dozen conflicts. Their speciality is single-target elimination, hence why they prefer the use of short-range weapons like combat knives and bolt carbines.
This class also has a Grapel Launcher that allows them to grapple towards a specific target. While potent combatants in every right, a high level of tactical awareness is required to play the Vanguard class effectively.
That’s it for a rundown of every class in Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2. We’ll have more guides on the game once it launches.
