Healing is extremely important in Evolve and Val does it well. If you don’t have a Medic, the monster will surely take the rest of the team out with ease. Val has some unique abilities that make her more than just a healer, she can cover backup Support and Tracker if needed.
Playing Val means knowing when to heal and when to support and I’m here to help you with that. For basic tips on playing Medic, or anything else in Evolve, check out my Beginner Advice and General Tips/Tricks.
This guide will go over Val gameplay tips including:
- Medgun – What it does and tips on using it.
- Tranquilizer gun– What it does and tips on using it.
- Armor-Piercing Sniper Rifle – What it does and tips on using it.
- Extra Tips – Tips for being a great Val player.
Medgun – Keep Your Team Alive
The Medgun shoots a beam that heals the targeted hunter as long as you have battery and keep the button held down.
- Keep your team at full health if possible.
- You don’t want to get in a fight with someone, or multiple people, at less than full because it will be harder to keep them alive.
- Constantly heal everyone since you can only heal one at a time.
- Stay at a distance when using Medgun.
- The Medgun has a long-range so stay far when using it. Get on top of cliffs and away from the monster if you can.
- Revive with the Medgun.
- If you heal a hunter while they are down, they will revive when the skull gets filled completely.
- This helps a lot when you have the high ground and the monster is trying to kill the downed hunter.
Tranquilizer Gun – Backup Tracker
This is one of the best reasons to play Val. The Tranquilizer Gun slows down the monster and highlights it so you can see where they are going.
- Always start with the Tranquilizer gun.
- You want to slow and mark the monster as soon as you can, so start the fight with this before doing anything else.
- Use when in the mobile arena, especially when it is about to go down.
- This allows you to track the monster once it leaves.
- If the monster is trying to hide, the darts will prevent that.
- Use multiple darts on Wraith monsters.
- You want to make sure you can track it, plus you might hit a decoy.
Armor-Piercing Sniper Rifle – Backup Support
The Armor-Piercing Sniper Rifle does damage and marks a weak point on the monster. Shooting the weak point does extra damage.
- Fire several spots on the monster.
- More shots means more places to do extra damage to the monster and your team can kill it faster.
- Aim for the head.
- You do extra damage for head shots so the mage increase will be greater.
- Use on buff wildlife and minions.
- Some wildlife give buffs, so making them vulnerable will also help.
- Minions can do a lot of damage so don’t underestimate them. Weaken them with sniper shots so they go down quickly.
Extra Tips
Utilizing your Healing Burst is important as well. This has a cooldown, but does a lot of healing to everyone around you.
- Be sure everyone is near you when using it, unless they don’t need healing.
- As Val, the only way to heal yourself is Healing Burst. Always use it when low on health.
- Use it for emergencies.
- When multiple people are low on health, or if the support and trapper are about to die.
- Using the healing burst with the Medgun provides huge burst healing.
- This also helps to revive hunters quickly.
