Flintlock Siege of Dawn Uru Boss Fight Guide

Learn all the tricks to get over Uru, the final boss of Flintlock: Siege of Dawn.

Uru is the god of gods in the world of Flintlock: Siege of Dawn and the final boss of the game. The area before the fight might be a little on the easy side and certainly more linear than the rest of the game, but the final confrontation with Uru makes up for it in both difficulty and complexity. If you’ve been struggling with this fight, then this Uru boss fight guide is for you.

Uru Boss Fight, Stage One

Uru is the only boss in Flintlock: Siege of Dawn whose fight is divided into two distinct stages. It’s not the first god to change its moveset midway through the battle, but no others change quite this drastically. Meanwhile, the first phase looks a lot like the other fights against gods, with two exceptions.

The first exception comes from the fact that Uru, which looks like a sphinx of sorts, has an exceptionally weird moveset. Most enemies and bosses are either human or humanoid. They attack with their hands or with a weapon, making it easy to block and parry their attacks. Not so with Uru.

Because of this (and because some of its animations look a little broken), I suggest you stick to dodging and stopping heavy attacks with your gun. Don’t expect to land too many parries, or even a single one. You might want to equip the Skirmisher’s gun, which deals less damage but carries far more shots, giving you more opportunities to stop Uru’s attacks. And make sure to keep using Enki’s attacks to build up the curse of death.

The second unique Characteristic of this fight is the unstoppable orb of death that Uru occasionally shoots from its mouth, as seen in the screenshot above. Uru will fly up in the sky, stand there for a few seconds, and launch an attack that will inevitably end with the player losing most of their life bar. As it turns out, this orb is quite easy to stop. Simply shoot Uru with your gun (or with a sidearm) while the orb still hasn’t touched the ground to stop it and stun Uru for a few seconds. You have a large window to land this shot, too, turning this from the biggest hurdle of the fight into an easy opportunity to land some hits.

The second stage of Uru’s fight starts with its apparent defeat, followed by a change of arena. Now in the realm of the gods, Nor must fight Uru alone, or so it seems. Deal enough damage and Enki will come back to help, if only for a few seconds.

Fighting without Enki can be surprisingly hard, but it can be made easier by taking a few precautions. First, use firearms and grenades to deal a lot of damage as soon as the fight starts. This will summon Enki immediately. Second, make sure to boost the recovery rate of Enki charges, perhaps by taking the Unleashing skill. Making Enki attack while you have enough Enki charges on you will summon him again.

The only safe moment to attack during this fight is when Uru is engaged in battle with Enki. That’s why you need to bring him into the fight as soon and as often as possible. The alternatives are to use your gun to stop Uru’s attack, giving you time to deal some minor damage, or to use an offensive Whitering, but they charge too slowly to really count on.

Preparing for Uru’s Fight

The Uru boss fight is made far easier if you bring the following skills and equipment with you:

  • Armored Poise skill, to equip two set abilities at once.
  • Sunderer’s Set ability, to better avoid Uru’s attacks.
  • Sapper’s Set ability, to recover black powder charges faster.
  • Skirmisher’s pistol and/or Extra Shot skill, to have more ammo.
  • Shadow Self skill, to have an extra life.
  • Unleashing skill, to recover Enki charges faster.
  • Curse Shot and/or Withering Cuts skills, to make Enki more useful.

Of course, you should also have some properly leveled-up weapons, helmet, and grenades. If you need more Reputation points to upgrade everything, make sure to use your remaining Conscript’s Buttons, Anglets, and whatnot. You’ll find those on skeletons and bodies all around the world, and they will be deposited in your inventory’s Satchel when you pick them up. Using them removes them permanently, but gives you a significant Reputation boost.
