Chapter 4 Season 5 of Epic’s battle royale will bring us back to Chapter 1 for a long-awaited return to the classic map. But what does that change have in store for us? Here are all of the changes coming to the Chapter 1 map in Fortnite OG.
How Will the Fortnite OG Map Change in Season 5?
Because of the Zero Build mode, maps no longer make use of the building mechanic. Thus, many of the regions in the Chapter 1 map will be tough to reach without building. That classic map was designed around that gameplay. Because of this, it’s fair to expect a surplus of zip lines and other mountable features to make areas reachable in the return of Fortnite OG.
Update 11/2/23:
From more leaks, we now know that the “ice biome” will make a return in Fortnite OG Chapter 1 Season 5. That information was provided on X (formerly Twitter) from what the user said was an instance of “the update … accidentally [releasing] too early on some devices.”

What Locations are Returning to the Chapter 1 Map?
If you’re a longtime fan like I am, you’re eagerly anticipating the return of familiar POIs in the upcoming season, whether it’s called Chapter 4 Season 5 or Chapter 1 Season 5. Thankfully, Epic Games has released teaser footage on their Twitter account that confirms a few. Here are the confirmed locations returning in Fortnite OG:
- Paradise Palms
- Dusty Divot
- Salty Springs
- Pleasant Park
- Tilted Towers
While these teased locations are nostalgic standouts from the past, I can’t wait to see what other Chapter 1 POIs will join the list. There have been leaks that suggest weekly map changes throughout the season, so we’ll likely see more than what’s been confirmed. It’s even possible that there will be a combination of new and old locations in the mix. Here are the other Chapter 1 locations that could return (and I’d love to see return):
- Fatal Fields
- Flush Factory
- Greasy Grove
- Haunted Hills
- Junk Junction
- Lazy Links
- Lonely Lodge
- Lucky Landing
- Retail Row
- Risky Reels
- Shifty Shafts
- Snobby Shores
- Tomato Town
- Wailing Woods
How Long Will the OG Chapter 1 Map be Available?
While Fortnite seasons typically last 10-12 weeks, Chapter 4 Season 5 is set to last only four weeks. The season will conclude on December 3, 2023. Leaks suggest that the end of the season will bring the map back to Chapter 5, so we anticipate the OG map to go back in the vault at that time.
Well, that’s all there is to know about the Fortnite OG map changes in Chapter 4 Season 5. Stay tuned with us at our guides hub here for all there is to know for this throwback to the past.
