I’m going to go over what the Sniper class can do, as well as a few tips on playing it. If you want general help with horde, check out my Gears of War 4 Horde Mode guide.

This guide will go over the basics of the Sniper class in Gears of War 4 Horde Mode including:

  • Sniper Basics – What the class does, their loadout, and skills.
  • Sniper Tips – Tips for playing the class.

Sniper Basics

The basics of a Sniper are straightforward, like Snipers in most games: Keep your distance.

This class is all about using precision rifles, Longshot, Markza, and EMBAR. They get bonuses to them and even start with a Longshot and Markza, though they can pick up other weapons if they choose.

If you play this class, you will want to pick off people from far away, while you let your Scouts pick up the Power.

Loadout
  • Longshot – Strong Precision rifle that deals intense damage with each shot, but requires reload after each 1.
  • Markza MK 1 – A semi-automatic precision rifle that deals less damage, but has more shots before reloading and shoots faster than the Longshot.
  • Snub Pistol – Small pistol that deals average damage. Good if you need to conserve ammo for your other weapons.
Skills

Remember, you have to unlock some skills and equip them before you get the effects.

  • Explosive Headshot – When you kill an enemy with a headshot, it explodes and damages nearby enemies.
  • Headshot Damage – Your headshots do more damage.
  • Mark Boost – Increases the maximum number of targets you can mark.
  • Precision Rifle Capacity – Any precision rifle you hold will carry more total ammo.
  • Precision Rifle Damage – Increases the damage you deal with precision rifles.
  • Precision Rifle Reload – Increases the reload speed of any precision rifle you carry.
  • Radar Ping – Adds this ability to the Fabricator. Marks all enemies when activated.
    • Only players with this skill can activate it.
  • Sniper Strike – Adds this ability to the Fabricator. Hits multiple targets when activated.
    • Only players with this skill can activate it.

Sniper Tips

  • Radar Ping and Mark Boost is great for being a team player
    • These abilities help everyone do more damage and see the enemies, not just you, so they are great choices.
  • Always be on the lookout
    • Being a Sniper, you should be looking for where the enemy is at all times, marking them, and taking out far away targets.
  • Explosive Headshot and Capacity are good picks
    • Explosive is great because you can take out more enemies with each shot and it is always great to increase your capacity, since precision rifles are lower than most.
