Prepare for sports-sanctioned violence!

Quidditch has quite a few roles you can take on to help your team prevail in this fictional sport. In this guide, I’ll go over how Beater is played in Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions. It’s a very useful role that can turn the tide at crucial moments in the match.

How to Play Beater in Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions

Beater is the violent team member in the sense that everything Beater does is violence. Your goal is to beat the opposing team’s members and render them immobile for a while because each damage you inflict on them in combat reduces their “health” bar and briefly stuns them (makes them drop the ball if they had it on them), and once it drops to zero, they will be stunned for a longer while before they can jump on the pitch again.

Before the match, you should choose the Beater role in the play menu (it’s my favorite role, realistically speaking), and you will be able to be a Chaser or a Beater during the match (the role that you do not actively use will be filled by a bot).

Of course, it’s optimal that you actively take on the Beater role as a player because you can provide more influence on the match’s situation. You have two “weapons” at your disposal: the melee attack (essentially a baseball bat) and the ranged attack (a metal ball you toss around with your magic wand). Each of these attacks has a cooldown, and you should do your best to time them carefully.

Your bread and butter go-to attack is the melee attack, as you will be using it more often. When you get close to an enemy player and look at the player for long enough, you will be able to smack them. The same goes for the ranged attacks, the difference being that you will first need to summon the metal ball and then aim it at an enemy player by looking at them (preferably until it’s locked on) and firing the ball.

Depending on your skill points, you will be able to do more damage; you will give the opponents less response time to dodge, etc., so make sure to invest them as soon as possible. The order doesn’t specifically matter as long as you focus on developing the Beater (if you are into maining this role). Here are some useful tips on how to play Beater:

  • Due to the metal ball not being precise enough, try to toss it at a static target (goalkeeper most of the time, for example) or to trail behind the target you are trying to attack. I’ve noticed that it’s hard to hit a target that’s coming your way. Also, make sure that the distance between you and the target is as short as possible to give the opponent less time to maneuver away from the attack.
  • It could be a great idea to harass the goalkeeper preemptively. Why? Because rarely does anyone like to play them, and they will mostly be manned by bots. This makes them an easy target to beat, rendering the goal hoops (mostly) empty. If you keep the goalkeeper in check, they will never have full HP, and you will be easily able to finish them off when it’s time for your Chaser to deliver the ball to their goal.
  • Usually, your role is to knock out the enemy Chaser that has the ball in their hands so that your own Chasers can easily take it away from them and score 10 points for your team, or at the very least, make the enemy team work harder for their 10 points.
  • Be on the maximum lookout for the Snitch appearance. This is your moment to truly shine. If you cripple the enemy team’s Seeker more than the opponent’s Beater harasses your own Seeker, the two of you will bring 30 points to your team.
