Blizzard’s online card game, Hearthstone, has come out with a brand new solo adventure for players to test his/her strength against a variety of bosses.
The newest journey, Blackrock Mountain, features 5 different wings with 3-4 bosses each. Each boss can be beaten on normal or heroic mode, with card rewards, class challenges, and more.
Here we explore the third wing of the series, Blackrock Spire, as we explore the next 3 bosses and the best classes, cards, and strategies to beat them.
Highlord Omokk
Highlord Omokk is an aggressive boss that plays to the strength of powerful removal. Players who attempt to use control decks will likely have fruitless efforts; however, this is where aggro decks shine.

General Strategy
Highlord Omokk uses a very aggressive strategy to deal as much damage as he can to your face or a random creature you have on the board. Because his special card and hero power uses the word “random,” and many of his cards are designed to burst down your minions, an aggro (aggressive) rush deck with many small minions is the perfect way to render his strategy useless.
Recommended Classes
Hunter – Face Hunter is very popular in the current meta, and this boss is no exception. With cards like Unleash the Hounds, Elven Archer, and Leper Gnome, players can build a very low-cost, aggressive deck that is perfect for defeating Highlord Omokk
Warlock – Every Hearthstone player has heard the term “Zoo Lock” at some point during his/her adventure, and this is the perfect time to try it out for yourself. With a flooded board, this enemy will have no idea where to attack and will most likely attack one of the many unimportant minions you have played.
Flame Imp, Imp Gang Boss, Imp-losion, and Voidwalker are great Warlock cards for this situation, as well as Abusive Sergeant, Leper Gnome, Haunted Creeper, etc. With a Zoo Lock, this fight will be over before you know it.
Mage – Aggro Mage is also particularly popular, and hasn’t gone out of style just yet. Mech Aggro Mage is especially great for this boss because of the multitude of small minions and deathrattles that will just spawn you another one. Piloted Shredder, Harvest Golem, Annoy-o-tron, etc. will be a great way to flood the board by turn 4 and basically make his hero power and special card ineffective.

General Drakkisath
General Drakkisath is an interesting second boss who centers around an interesting of one card per turn. Big creatures and powerful spells will be the key to success.
Health: 50
Health (Heroic): 50
Hero Power – Intense Gaze – All cards cost (1). Players are capped at 1 Mana Crystal. (0 mana)
Hero Power (Heroic) – Intense Gaze – All cards cost (1). You are capped at 2 Mana Crystals and your opponent at 1. (0 mana)
Special Cards
General Strategy
Essentially Drakkisath’s hero power means that you’ll only be able to play 1 card per turn, as everything costs 1 (even 0 cards) and you only have 1 mana to play. This gives players a chance to stack a deck with fat creatures and powerful burn spells that will only cost 1 mana; the possibilities are endless.
Recommended Classes
Druid – In theory, Druid’s Innervate card will now cost 1 mana, yet will still grant you 2 mana for the turn. That being said, you can now play 2 cards instead of only 1. This strategy, along with the massive minions Druids have to play, such as Ironbark Protector and Ancient of War.
Pair these with other large minions, such as the Giants (Molten Giant, etc.), Boulderfist Ogre, Corehound, etc. and you’ll have gigantic creatures this boss cannot compete with. Don’t forget Druid burn spells as well to keep him on his toes!
Mage – Mage’s spells will be a clear advantage during this fight, especially a 1 cost Flamestrike, Fireball, etc. Use this strategy, along with some awesome combinations like the Kirin Tor Mage and a secret, and the Goblin Blastmage to get some extra damage off on your opponent.
Grab some big creatures that I mentioned above, like the Giants, Boulderfist Ogre, Stormwind Champion, etc., and you’ll be beating this boss in no time.
Hunter – Using the same strategy above, a Hunter deck will also work to defeat Drakkisath. Burn spells like Multi-Shot, Explosive Shot, etc., will work well here, especially because the Hunter has some larger creatures to work in your favor, such as Savannah Highmane.

Rend Blackhand is a 4 part fight that leads players through a battle of 4 different hero powers. This fight is all about control, as the hero power and special cards are a mixture of small and large minions.

General Strategy
The general strategy for this last boss fight is to utilize a great control deck tin order to punish the minions he spawns from his hero power, while keeping card advantage and ultimately winning the battle.
Any class with powerful AOE (Area of Effect) spells will wipe out the minions he spawns, so I would recommend using Mage or Warrior. These classes also are well-tested in the current meta which makes them all the more powerful to beat Rend Blackhand.
Recommended Classes
Mage – Mage’s AOE spells Blizzard and Arcane Explosion, and even your hero power, are the perfect counter to the 1/1 minions Rend Blackhand spawns with his hero power, making the cards guaranteed to be valuable.
Paired with other general powerful control cards like Unstable Portal, Frostbolt, Piloted Shredder, Azure Drake, Sludge Belcher, Loatheb, Kirin Tor, and Secrets, you’ll be powering through the last boss of the Blackrock Spire in no time.
Warrior – The warrior is known for using a combo-focused control deck in the current meta that is a perfect candidate for this fight. Using cards like Whirlwind, Slam, Death’s Bite, etc. will take care of all the low-cost minions this boss throws at you.
These cards along with the other general Warrior cards such as Cruel Taskmaster, Battle Rage, Unstable Ghoul, Acolyte of Pain, Dread Corsair, etc. will make this boss meet his match. If you’ve acquired the Grim Patron along your Blackrock travels, add him in there as well, along with Emporer Thaurissan.
Reward
Wing Completion
Completing the entire wing will grant you the legendary card, Rend Blackhand:
