It’s crazy how good Hempire is compared to other weed growing games. There’s always a bunch to do between taking care of your crop, running your business, and improving surrounding community.
Breeding strains is one of the more unique aspects of Hempire. You not only cross strains to create new ones, but you can improve the traits of your current strains to make them more potent (and valuable).
To get started with strain breeding, you need epic or legendary buds, with epic buds being rare drops from harvesting.
If you’re lucky, you’ll get an epic bud when harvesting, but you can improve your chances of getting these sought-after buds by keeping your plants fully watered and keeping the temperature to the plant’s liking.
The benefits of fully watering your plants
Each plant can be watered a set number of times, and if you can keep an eye on the game, it’s well-worth it. Fully watering your plants:
- Increases the amount of buds you’ll get at harvest
- Increases the chance of getting an epic bud on harvest
- Matures the plant faster
If you water a plant each time it requests it, it will finish its growth once you water it the last time. Optimally, you’re going to water them every time, and it is worth it.
Strains
There are currently nine strains in Hempire. Below is a list of them all, along with their type:
- Afghani (Indica)
- Chemdawg (Hybrid)
- G-13 Haze (Hybrid)
- Haze (Sativa)
- Hindu Kush (Indica)
- Jack Herer (Sativa)
- Northern Lights (Indica)
- Skunk No1 (Hybrid)
- Sour Diesel (Sativa)
You start the game with Hindu Kush and are given Skunk No1 to breed Northern Lights to get your license, and from there, you have to work our breeding yourself.
Hempire breeding basics
Luckily, breeding strains in Hempire is pretty simple. Each strain has its own medicinal properties, which you can improve via breeding. You also unlock new strains via breeding, which takes a little more finesse.
When breeding, you may increase one of three medicinal properties:
- Potency
- Aroma
- Pain (Indica or hybrid) or Mood (Sativa or hybrid)
Increasing these increases the overall quality and value of your bud.
In the breeding lab, you’ll have to choose a mother strain and a father strain, and both are very important.
The mother strain you choose will decide its base medicinal properties and acts as the launch pad for the effects of the father strain, which will grant medicinal property bonuses to the outcome strain, whether a new strain entirely or an improvement on what you already have.
The mother strain is more important than the father as it is the basis for the outcome. If you start with Afghani as the mother, you’re going to get an improved Afghani with benefits from the father plant as a result — unless you’ve chosen the right combination for a new strain.
Strain combinations
So you’ve read all this and you’re ready to push forward with your strain breeding. It’s really easy. Much easier than it initially seems. The only difficulty lies in knowing the mother-father combinations to produce new strains, and we’re about to get to that.
If you breed plants of the same type together, they’ll come out as that type. For instance, if you breed two compatible sativas together, you’ll get a sativa. The same can be said for indicas. But if you breed a compatible indica with a compatible sativa, you’ll get a hybrid instead. This is good to know, but isn’t a cheat sheet better?
Let’s get to the breeding cheat sheet, because you’re probably at your wit’s end trying to get what you want:
- Afghani + Skunk No 1 = Northern Lights
- Northern Lights + Chemdawg = Hindu Kush
- Northern Lights + Skunk No 1 = Chemdawg
- Hindu Kush + Chemdawg = Sour Diesel
- Hindu Kush + Sour Diesel = Haze
- Haze + Sour Diesel = G13 Haze
- G13 Haze + Chemdawg = Jack Herer
If you’re trying to breed to improve your strains’ quality instead of trying to get new strains, you need to remember a golden rule: each strain can only improve another’s medicinal properties so many times. This leads to you needing to breed the strain you want to improve with multiple other strains, instead of only sticking to breeding with one other one.
The road to max quality is paved in breed variety.
There are some more intricacies to Hempire‘s strain breeding system, but hopefully this guide has helped you if you’re either new to the game or are stuck on quality. Keep hustling!
