Hogwarts Legacy: How to Climb the Battlements in High Keep

You'll need to climb the battlements at High Keep during on Hogwarts Legacy quest. Here's how to do it.

“The High Keep” is one of the main quests in Hogwarts Legacy. Searching for evidence of Rookwood and Harlow’s criminal activities, you’ll need to meet Natty just outside of Falbarton Castle. Locked outside, you and Natty will need to find out how to climb the battlements to infiltrate Rookwood’s base of operations.

Since enemies guard various areas of the battlements, invisibility is key in this part of the quest. Sneak attack enemies by using Petrificus Totalus, or go invisible by using a potion or casting Disillusionment, during this quest.

Facing the castle, head to the right side of the entry bridge to find climbable wooden planks.

On the landing, you’ll see a gated room to the left and another climbable wall in front. Use Depulso to spin the switch on the left side of the room, opening the gate.

Once the gate is open, use Accio and Wigardium Leviosa to move the crate over to the climbing wall. Once it’s close enough, drop the crate and caste Levioso so it floats. Climb up the crate, then the wall to reach the next section.

Once you reach the rampart, you’ll see breakable wood slats and a path to the right. Destroy the slats to reveal a crawl space. Before moving through, head to the right until you find an open window. Use Accio t pull the chest out of the way of the crawl space exit. Head back to the opening and crawl through.

You’ll arrive in a room with the exit barred by a locked gate. There is another switch with a bar mechanism attached. Hit the switch with Depulso quickly and repeatedly. When the gate lifts, pull the handle with Accio to drop the metal grate over the mechanism, locking it in place. Now head through the open exit.

Once you join Natty and leave the room, a cutscene will trigger, showing Highwing the Hippogriff trying to escape the poachers. Natty is able to slip into the castle behind them as they drag Highwing inside, but you’re unable to make it.

The climb continues by scaling the right side of this area. When you reach the landing, you’ll see a crate behind a broken window. Use Depulso to push the crate over a ledge. Go down the set of stairs to the right, and you’ll see where the crate fell in a small nook off to the left.

Use Accio and Wingardium Leviosa to move the crate to a space between the broken stair and its opposing ledge. Use Levioso so it remains floating, then jump from the stairs to the crate to the landing.

From here, it’s less of a climb and more of an exploration section. Cast Alohomora to unlock the gate on the left; continue heading up until you get ambushed by some poacher rangers. Once you’ve dispatched them, there’s another gate to unlock that will bring you inside the tower.

There you’ll see a room full of cages, as well as Niffler and Puffskein. Go inside, and you’ll find some evidence of Rookwood’s poaching ring. You can also catch the beasts with the nab-sack to rescue them.

Continue spiraling upward, and you’ll find a path that goes to the left. Head to the right, where you cross over a plank bridge to gather some treasure. Turn back and finish ascending the staircase.

At the top of the staircase, you’ll be greeted by Highwing and another Hippogriff. This triggers a cutscene and your escape from Falbarton Castle. Once you land, you’ll have unlocked the Hippogriff mount, as well as mounts in general. It also concludes “The High Keep” quest.
