Hogwarts Legacy: How to Find Shiny Beasts Easily

This guide includes two simple methods to let you quickly find and catch shiny beasts in Hogwarts Legacy.

In Hogwarts Legacy, shiny beasts are rare variants of their normal counterparts found in creature dens scattered throughout the open world. The differences may be hard to spot at first glance, but knowing what to look out for and implementing two simple strategies can help improve your chances of finding one of these rare shiny beasts and adding them to your collection.

How to Find Shiny Beasts Easily in Hogwarts Legacy

There are a total of 13 different beasts to discover in Hogwarts Legacy that range from cute little Puffskeins to majestic creatures such as the Unicorn. Shiny variants of each beast have a chance to spawn in dens along with their non-shiny counterparts.

On a side note, the Phoenix is the only beast in the game that doesn’t have a shiny variant. You’ll only encounter and catch one Phoenix during the “Phoenix Rising” side quest given to you by Deek later on in the game.

When entering a den, make sure to use the Disillusionment Spell to make yourself invisible. This ensures you don’t spook the beasts roaming around the area.

From a distance, hover over each beast and be on the lookout for a star symbol next to their name (it looks like a “+”). A star will signify whether or not the beast is a shiny variant or a normal one. If you happen to spot one, great! Use a spell such as Glacius or Arresto Momentum to stop the beast in its tracks and catch it with your Nab-Sack.

However, if you don’t happen to spot a shiny beast, this is where the exploit comes into use. Currently, there are two methods you can use to force the den to respawn with new beasts.

Getting a Shiny Beast Method 1: Save and Reload

Head to a den of choice and check if there are any shiny beasts present. If there isn’t, capture all the beasts in the den and leave. From here, manually save the game and reload. Head back to the den and repeat the process until a shiny beast spawns.

Getting a Shiny Beast Method 2: Fast Travel and Wait

If you’re finding that catching certain beasts is difficult, try this method instead. After checking the den, open up your map and fast travel to the nearest Floo Flame. From here, open up your map and “Wait” to advance time. Once you’ve done this, fly back to the den. Repeat this process until a shiny variant spawns.

And that’s it! By utilizing these two methods, you’ll have a collection of shiny beasts in no time. Shiny beasts are no different from their normal counterparts except for their appearance and can still be pet and fed like every other beast. It is interesting to note that breeding two shiny beasts of the opposite gender will grant you shiny offspring.
