Hogwarts Legacy: How to Go Invisible

This guide includes every way to turn invisible in Hogwarts Legacy, a useful skill for stealthy approaches to combat.

Hogwarts Legacy includes plenty of secrets hidden in its open-world map, but sometimes it’s better if you’re the hidden one while exploring. Getting involved in mysteries about Ancient Magic and Goblin rebellions can be dangerous, so the ability to sneak around invisible and avoid combat can be particularly valuable depending on the situation.

Luckily, you’ll have a few options for hiding yourself from enemies, with some being more effective than others. Of the three methods to go invisible, only two of them are possible throughout the game. The third method is limited to one section of the main quest, which means that there are going to be a few spoilers for Hogwarts Legacy’s main story included here.

How to Go Invisible in Hogwarts Legacy

The Invisibility Potion

Invisibility Potions can be purchased from J. Pippin’s Potions in Hogsmeade, or you can purchase the recipe at the same location and brew them yourself. To make the Invisibility Potion, you’ll need Leaping Toadstool Caps, Knotgrass Sprig, and Troll Bogeys.

To use a potion, open your tool wheel (L1/LB/Tab by default) and choose the Invisibility Potion. An image of the potion will appear by your minimap to show you that it’s selected. You can then use the same key you used to open your tool wheel to drink the potion and turn invisible for a short period of time.

The Disillusionment Charm

After you’re able to learn Incendio from Professor Hecat, you’ll learn the Disillusionment Charm during the main quest “Tomes and Tribulations” for the sake of sneaking into the library with Sebastian Sallow. From then on, you can use the Disillusionment Charm as you please, and unlike the Invisibility Potion, it’s free.

The downside is that the stealth from this charm is not as strong as the potion, so enemies will catch onto your presence if you’re in their line of sight or too close to them for too long. However, this drawback can be diminished by putting talent points in the stealth category.

The Cloak of Invisibility

One of the four Keepers gives you the chance to don the Cloak of Invisibility, one of the three Deathly Hallows. The Cloak, like the potion, is stronger than Disillusionment. You can get closer to enemies without them noticing your presence, making it easier to sneak through narrow areas without fighting.

There is, however, one big downside to the Cloak of Invisibility. You only get access to it during a single section during the trial in which it appears. After that, you’ll be unable to use the Cloak again.
