The Harmonious Choir: The Great Septimus is the latest weekly boss in Honkai: Star Rail. This new boss was released as a part of the game’s Version 2.2 update, and it specializes in Imaginary attacks that can prevent your teammates from taking turns if you’re not careful enough.
If you’re struggling to take down this boss, or looking to farm it efficiently, below are a few tips and team comps to help you eradicate The Great Septimus with ease.
The Great Septimus Battle Mechanics
The Great Septimus battle uses a shielding mechanic that’s tied to the boss’s toughness bar. Every time you deplete one of these bars, your team gets a “Collective Shield,” which is assigned a number that represents how much damage your team can absorb. To ensure maximum survivability, bring units that dish out Fire, Electric, or Imaginary damage to efficiently knock down the boss’s toughness meter to quickly increase your Collective Shield rating.
During the entirety of the battle, The Great Septimus will unleash strong single-target and AoE Imaginary attacks that can Imprison your characters, preventing them from taking their turn. To minimize this effect, you may want to consider building up the Effect Res stat on your characters or bringing in a character like Natasha, March 7th, or Lynx, who can cleanse the effect (and heal) when it occurs. Additionally, breaking or defeating the Echoes of Faded Dreams will also help cut down on the amount of damage The Great Septimus will unleash when it attacks.
The final phase of the battle plays like the earlier stages of the fight, except you have access to a special attack that deals a massive amount of Imaginary damage to The Great Septimus. This attack can be charged after each unit’s turn, so keep your teammates alive (while still dealing their own damage) to quickly fill this gauge up. After a few hits from your own team and this special attack, The Great Septimus will go down.
Best Characters for The Great Septimus
Since knocking down The Great Septimus’s toughness bar is the main priority of the fight, using units that deal Fire, Electric, or Imaginary damage will help take down its bar faster. There are a variety of characters that use these elements, allowing for different types of teams to effectively take down this boss. Generally, though, you’ll want to make sure that you have at least one sustain unit on your team (either a healer or shielder) to maximize your survivability. I found the following characters to be the most effective during this fight:
Character | Tip |
Ruan Mei | Ruan Mei’s skill Weakness Break Efficiency, allowing you to deplete The Great Septimus’s toughness bar faster. |
Aventurine | Aventurine provides excellent survivability thanks to his shield, and his Imaginary follow-up can help chip away at the boss’s toughness bar. |
Tingyun | Tingyun can help charge up your chosen DPS’s Ultimate and give them an ATK boost. She can also deal toughness damage when she isn’t using her skill. |
Serval | Serval is great in this fight since she delivers solid AoE Lightning damage to take care of Echoes of Faded Dreams and chip away at the boss’s toughness bar. |
Lynx | Lynx is one of the best healers to bring to this fight since her Ultimate can cleanse Imprisoned teammates. Just note that she won’t contribute much damage since she deals Quantum damage. |
Acheron | Acheron is a solid DPS to bring to this fight since she can deal massive AoE Lightning Damage with her Ultimate. However, she is dependent on other debuff characters to charge her Ultimate. |
Imbibitor Lunae | Imbibitor Lunae is one of the best DPS characters to bring to this fight since he can deal solid AoE and single-target damage. Just make sure you have enough SP for him so he can charge up his skill. |
Luocha | Luocha is an excellent healer who can also deal solid Imaginary damage to the boss’s toughness bar while keeping your teammates alive. |
Asta | Asta’s skill delivers multi-hit Fire damage to effectively knock down the boss’s toughness bar. Her Ultimate also provides extra SPD to allow your units more turns. |
We wish you the best of luck when taking down The Great Septimus. For more tips on character builds, team comps, and more, be sure to check out our HSR guides.
